Sleep deprivation! 😩 • The team keeping moving 24 hours a day by splitting their crew of four into two pairs, with each pair rowing in 2 hours shifts. One pair will row for 2 hours, then they'll have a 2 hour rest whilst the other pair rows, and they continue this for the entire row. 😯 • Never getting more than 2 hours sleep at any stage in the crossing sounds pretty tough, but the reality is MUCH worse. During their 2 hours off the team will have to clamber into the cabin, get their wet gear off, fire up the camp stove, boil some water, use that to rehydrate some food (normally takes 10-15 minutes), they'll need to do any navigational work, they might need to run the water maker for 20 minutes to make water, they'll need to clean them selves of all the salt crystals, they'll need to eat their food, they might need to do some videos for us at home....and THEN they will be able to sleep. More than anything, just keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers and send positive thoughts our way. We are blessed to have so many friends and family that care. This is just another reminder from Mother Nature that she is in control. I am very proud of our state, community, and Florida friends in how we prepare and help each other. It ceases to amaze me. Although we are very good at rebuilding and healing our wounds as a state, this impact has been a little more powerful than what I have experienced. The main reason is we have not had time to clean up debris and rebuild since Helene and now we have Milton that is going to do a direct hit across our state. So much of our state revenue and jobs is built upon tourism, which puts many out of work right now until we can rebuild in those areas. This could be detrimental to so many great people. Every little bits helps and would make a difference.
