What an honor to be published (again) in Nature Magazine, one of the most prestigious scientific journals in the world! 📰 Publishing an article in Nature is remarkable, publishing TWO articles in Nature is truly exceptional. After a first publication in 2020 on enzymatic depolymerization of PET, this new article reinforces Carbios’ scientific leadership in enzymatic biotechnologies by presenting enzyme-embedded PLA that is 100% compostable at ambient temperature. Developing an efficient enzyme that can withstand the 170°C needed to introduce it into PLA is an outstanding scientific feat! 🔬👩🔬👨🔬 This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work, passion, and dedication of our researchers, engineers, and partners. A special mention to our longstanding collaborator who co-authored the article, TBI - Toulouse Biotechnology Institute, Bio & Chemical Engineering, (joint research unit associating INSA Toulouse, CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique and INRAE). A huge thank you to all the teams who contributed to this exceptional success. Together, we continue to push the boundaries of science for a greener future. #Biotech #innovation #science #biodegradation #RD #enzymes

✨ Excited to Share Our First Research Achievement! ✨ I'm thrilled to announce the publication of our first research article, "Upcycling of Eggshell Waste into Calcium Phosphates for Use in Sustainable Biomedical Engineering Applications," in the journal Eng. This work highlights the transformation of eggshell waste into high-value calcium phosphate biomaterials using the wet precipitation method, with significant implications for sustainable biomedical engineering. Key Highlights: ✅ Innovative Approach: Utilized eggshell waste as a calcium source for biomaterials. ✅ Sustainable Impact: Promotes recycling and upcycling of organic waste. ✅ Biomedical Applications: The synthesized brushite offers promising potential for bone regeneration and drug delivery systems. I extend my huge gratitude to my co-authors and collaborators Dimitris Flegkas Aikaterini Itziou @Konstantinos Kountouras Adamos Stimoniaris Petros Samaras and of course Karayannis Vayos. #Research #Sustainability #BiomedicalEngineering #WasteUpcycling #Innovation #Eggshells #CalciumPhosphates

🎉 Excited to introduce one of our team members, PhD researcher Lander Haesaert! Lander began his PhD journey in October 2023, under the guidance of Prof. Tara Grauwet and Prof. Sarah Verkempinck. 🌱 His research focuses on developing plant-based emulsifiers, like Pickering particles and protein biopolymers. These emulsifiers will be used to design Pickering and bi-structured emulsions, which will undergo digestion tests. At first using the static INFOGEST in vitro digestion model, followed later on by more dynamic methods. 👨🔬 🔬 This work aims to reveal how different emulsifiers impact lipid digestion kinetics, with an eye on designing emulsions that influence feelings of satiation and satiety. 💡 Lander’s research is funded by Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen (FWO), and we’re eager to see the contributions his work will bring to the field! 🤝 #PhDresearch #foodscience #invitrodigestion #pickeringemulsions
