Senior Partner | Global Co-Leader of McKinsey's Strategic Priority on Geopolitics

It’s been a busy week here in California. One of the major highlights has been participating in the 6th Insight to Innovation (i2i) conference, hosted by the McKinsey Center for Government and The Aspen Institute. Each year, government leaders come together to share how they are using emerging technologies in their departments and agencies, while immersing themselves in site visits to tech campuses in Silicon Valley. It was my pleasure to meet with leaders this week to discuss the incredible opportunities the private and public sector have to work together to improve lives and livelihoods through technology and innovation; and how generative AI can help us do that. With technology top of mind, I’m also struck by the dense web of personal connections that make this place (and our public service) special. The potential upside to gen AI is enormous. Recent calculations by my McKinsey colleagues estimate the gen AI could have an estimated $480 billion productivity effect on the public sector and adjacent industries. (https://lnkd.in/eRDR_FMd) I’m certainly feeling energized and excited for the future. It’s amazing what we can accomplish together when working toward a shared goal.
