For those who couldn't convert, there's still hope as many other B-Schools are yet to declare their shortlists. So, no need to get demotivated. People confused between C and FMS need to choose the tradeoff of RoI vs Campus life, in my honest opinion. 🌿FMS has a smaller batch size and has a very high RoI. 🌿C has the campus life and the IIM tag. But in my opinion, more than tags it's the individual's decisions that matters in the long run. 🌿From placement PoV, there's not much difference although C is known as the fin campus and FMS is the Mecca of Marketing. As a MBA student of Lovely Professional University I would say if you have missed a competitive exam like CAT or MAT📝 or have not scored good marks and you are not able to get admission in the top IIM for MBA, you can join LPU by giving the Lpunest exam. With this exam, you can get a scholarship as well. , If you are searching for a private university for MBA with a budget under 8 lakh💸 i feel LPU is best with NAAC A++ ranking.🥇 The fee for MBA general of batch 2024 will be 2 lakh per semester . You can get scholarship of 35%, 25% based upon your Lpunest score or your graduation marks . There is another way to get a scholarship like sports also with your CAT marks. ▶️About Placement 👨🎓 Talking about placements, I would say many students are getting placed with an 18 LPA. This is not the highest, but many students are getting it; some are getting 12, 8, 6, or 5. They are all MBA students, but they are getting different packages. We all know the story. A student who dreams of IIT or IIM prepares tirelessly for years, takes the exams, and still, the odds are stacked against them. With over a million students competing for a few thousand seats, is this really the dream we want for our youth? The Harsh Reality Take the example of IIT Bombay, where placements have been declining in recent years. Despite the institution’s elite status, even top graduates sometimes struggle to secure high-paying jobs that justify the massive investment of time, money, and emotional energy. And if the crème de la crème is facing challenges, what about everyone else? Let’s not forget the growing reports of student burnout, mental health issues, and even suicides, as young people find themselves crushed under the pressure of living up to these expectations. The dream, it seems, is becoming a nightmare. What Needs to Change? It’s time we reimagine the system, focusing not just on competition, but on creating meaningful opportunities that make education more accessible and rewarding for all students—not just the top 1%. Real Solutions, Not Just Lip Service Expand Seat Capacity in Top Institutions: Instead of building entirely new universities, why not expand capacity at existing ones? It could mean more opportunities for students without compromising on quality. Elevate Tier-2 and Tier-3 Colleges: The obsession with IITs and IIMs means thousands of great regional institutions are overlooked. We need to shift the focus and promote these institutions by improving their faculty, research, and infrastructure, so they become real contenders. Income-Share Agreements (ISA): Students shouldn’t have to mortgage their futures for an education that may not pay off. With ISAs, students can pay a portion of their income once they land a job, easing the burden and making higher education a shared investment between the institution and student. Public-Private Partnerships for Curriculum and Placements: Instead of students being stuck with outdated syllabi, why not bring industries to the table? 2 Years 60+ Mocks Below Average Academic Profile Countless Failures And Much More .... At this point I feel like writing a book sharing all these experiences, but I'll try to keep it short. 2020 - I was preparing for NEET, but due to Corona Virus it got postponed and a YouTube Ad poped up asking my interest in the field of Business Administration and it immediately got me in. I researched about the future in MBA's and that's where I got to know about IIM's but very soon all the aspirations were dumped when an article stated that how important your academic profile is to get an admission into top B-Schools after cracking CAT. I had scored 76% in my 10th boards & 61% in my 12th boards, an average score right? It was like a Bollywood film plot where I convince myself that it's just a way to get in but I did had National Level Certificates for various Sports which showcases my Holistic Approach. Also I said these colleges expect candidates who can do well in the field and not some over achievers for whom these are just somes colleges to get good placements. 2022 - My third year in BBA & first attempt for Common Aptitude Test (CAT). I was not preparing well, was not serious enough and was only giving Mocks to get an idea about the same. I scored 77 percentile. 2023 - Done with my Graduation 🎓, and started working to get some experience and understand corporate world as well, simultaneously started preparing harder this time. I used to wake up at 6 and was studying for a couple of hours before going to work and then after coming home at 20:00, I had my classes for 2 hours and then self studied for another 2. It was a frustrating journey for 5 months altogether. This year when I had my attempt, it was not a nervous start, it felt different, I felt confident. When the results were out, I had a very decent score, honestly I was happy to get one. Will soon share my interview experiences and things that are important after CAT and my converts as well. All that glitter 🌟 is not gold 🥇—especially true for AltMBA institutes in the country. I’ve been contemplating completing my master’s for a few months now. After shortlisting a few B-Schools, I narrowed down my top choices: Indian School of Business, IIM-Calcutta & Kozhikode, Great Lakes, and SP Jain Dubai. For the past month, I’ve been taking the time to research these schools and reach out to students from the 2023 and 2024 cohorts. Except for ISB, none of the IIMs made it into the top 50 B-Schools in my research, although IIM-Calcutta did rank in the top 100. While their placement numbers might be lower, they still have a solid reputation and long-standing trust among students. You don’t often see IIMs advertising on YouTube or social media, unlike the AltMBA schools that flood every platform with ads. Speaking of AltMBAs, many of these newer institutes have suddenly popped up, offering weekend PGP courses with no job guarantees and fees as high as ₹25 lakhs—just ₹5 lakhs less than their full-time programs that do offer placements. It didn’t make sense to me, so I applied to see their justification. In my conversation with their admissions team, they couldn’t clearly explain the steep fees for part-time courses. So, I reached out to students from previous cohorts. Two students from the full-time program advised me to stick with the IIMs, calling them “more valuable.” Further research led me to an investigative article that exposed how some AltMBA schools set their fees based on the average salary of only a third of their placed graduates, conveniently ignoring those who weren’t placed. It’s easy to see how many students fall for flashy ads without digging deeper, wasting their parents’ hard-earned money. One AltMBA institute that launched with much fanfare has already shut down after failing to sustain itself. Another is on life support, and a third is now considering scrapping its liberal teaching format to follow the more conventional approach of IIMs and ISB. 🏜 Breathtaking view can help you survive your MBA 🚀Many students from the class of 2026 have recently begun their journey at B-school or are about to start in the coming days, experiencing a mix of emotions that’s hard to describe. Excitement, anxiety, and a surge of dopamine 😂 mingle together in their minds. 📜 Reflecting on my own first day, 2 years ago, I recall juggling between: registration , attending pre-MBA sessions led by seniors, handling tasks, Inauguration ceremony, adjusting to a new environment, all while working last few days serving notice period from campus ☠️ Soon, exhaustion sets in, and the beginnings of a mid-life crisis 🤯may loom as doubts about the decision to join B-school steps in. However, these challenges at the starting, all nighters, struggles and the lessons learned made future mba life easy. The journey is demanding but undeniably rewarding. Just Stay committed. P.S.
