I had the honour of attending the Work Readiness Week hosted by the Wits Graduate Recruitment Program under the CCDU in partnership with corporate partners, whose ethos is to empower emerging employees. My key takeaways were: 1. The process of job hunting is a journey which involves many facets including willingness to learn. 2. Employability is more than just having a CV; it involves having a full understanding of the context within which organisations operate . #CCDU 3. I learnt that “my network is my net worth, through building life and workplace meaningful networks” #Michaela Mahes 4. Having a personal brand that reflects authenticity, personal values and integrity. 5. How to tactfully navigate interviews and obtaining feedback. #Kego Ntshe To cap the week-long session, I volunteered to participate in a mock case interview as the interviewee, being interviewed by specialists from Kearney. This was an enlightening experience, with instant and valuable feedback. #Kearney Looking forward to apply all I learnt from the sessions and interactions

Recently, I had the privilege of being interviewed by the Indian School of Business (ISB), and the experience was nothing short of a paradigm shift. While interviews are often perceived as a means to an end, I discovered that this one was much more, it was a reflective exercise. Speaking with a panel of accomplished yet friendly ISB Alums helped me connect the dots between my current qualifications and my aspirations in the policy sector. Their advice gave me fresh perspectives on how to approach the kind of roles and commitments I hope to take on in the future. It felt less like an evaluation and more like a constructive conversation. This experience helped me realize something I hadn’t fully understood before : an interview isn’t just a test; it’s a rare opportunity to pause, reflect, and grow. Walking out of that room, I felt not just more clear about my objectives, but also grateful for the insights and encouragement I received along the way. To anyone preparing for an interview, with the GDPI season coming up : don’t just prepare for questions—prepare to learn about yourself. Use it as a chance to recalibrate your path and embrace this process as an aid to your journey. #ISB #Interview #PolicyGoals #LifelongLearning #Gratitude #PublicPolicy

Are we losing sight of what's important? I'm increasingly concerned about the trend I'm seeing among university students in Pakistan today. Rather than focusing on securing jobs and gaining essential experience, many seem more interested in leisure activities. At job fairs, it's troubling to see more students flocking to food stalls than engaging with companies offering recruitment opportunities. Yet, there's a prevalent complaint about the lack of jobs in the market. The four years at university are meant for learning and building a solid foundation. Disturbingly, many students only realize the importance of this in their final year. After graduation, they expect high-paying jobs despite having made little effort to understand real-world challenges or professional environments during their studies. According to a 2022 report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the youth unemployment rate in Pakistan is around 8.5%, highlighting the mismatch between education and employment readiness. Even more worrisome is the tendency to switch jobs for a slight pay increase shortly after receiving good offers and training. This is often justified as "seeking better opportunities," without considering the investment companies have made in their development. This raises a critical question: how can we sustain and thrive as a workforce if this mindset continues? It's imperative for students to grasp the importance of hard work, dedication, and loyalty. We must strive to cultivate a more committed and skilled workforce for a sustainable and prosperous future. Let's start a conversation: How can we better prepare students for the realities of the job market? What steps can universities, employers, and students themselves take to ensure a brighter future for all?

🎯𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀🎯 With the GDPI sessions for CAT 2025 fast approaching, it’s a great time to reflect on the importance of interview skills and group discussions (GDs) in shaping one’s career trajectory. At IIFT Delhi, I’ve realized that GDs are not just about presenting your ideas but also about active listening, critical thinking, and teamwork. It’s about creating impact while respecting diverse perspectives. Similarly, interviews go beyond answering questions—they’re an opportunity to tell your story, showcase your uniqueness, and connect authentically. As aspirants prepare for this crucial stage, my advice is simple: -𝗕𝗲 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 : Let your true self shine through. -𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱: Awareness of current events and business trends adds value. -𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲: Mock GDs and interviews are invaluable for building confidence. Remember, GDPI isn’t just about getting selected—it’s about learning skills that will serve you throughout your career. Best of luck to everyone preparing! #GDPI #CAT2025 #CommunicationSkills #IIFTDelhi #CareerGrowth
