This holiday season our elves were very busy, working hard to fill the wishes of 7 children in our community. In partnership with our local YMCA, Sibanye-Stillwater Reldan employees embodied the true spirit of Christmas, collecting over 100 gifts from warm weather gear and hygiene products to art supplies and toys, to ease the stress on care givers this holiday season. A huge thank you to everyone for spreading joy, hope and warmth this holiday season. #communitysupport #givingtree #sibanyestillwatercares #reldancares

So why support kinship care week? The majority of children outside of parental care are being cared for in Kinship care. Kinship care can help keep families together, providing support to parents when they are unable to care for their children. kinship care is often the preferred form of care for both children and caregivers. Despite this it is often poorly supported. Kinship care families have a variety of support needs from financial to emotional. Help us raise awareness on the amazing work kinship carers are doing and the need to support them better ensuring better outcomes for children. #GlobalKinshipCareWeek

If you think fostering is just about helping children while ignoring the families behind them, you’re missing the point. Fostering isn’t just about providing a safe haven; it’s about understanding and supporting the entire family unit. By offering resources, encouragement, and connection, we can help parents heal and grow, ultimately benefiting the children too. 🧑🧑🧒🧒 When we approach fostering with this holistic perspective, we create lasting change that extends beyond the individual child. 🌠 #fosteringjourney #fosterfamilysupport #fostercare #fostercareawareness

The first steps in this Mission: Dedication. Commitment. Understanding Social Skills. And 16 to 18 months of training. Canine Companions®
Wait for it... Just when you thought you shined 😂 Puppy raising is a crucial part of our mission to provide #servicedogs to people with disabilities - because it all starts with a puppy! 🐶 After our puppies turn eights weeks old, each puppy is paired with a #volunteer who spends the next 16 to 18 months raising, training and socializing them to ensure they have the necessary skills to advance to professional #service dog training. It takes dedication, commitment and love, but if you ask any of our volunteers who's participated, they'll tell you in a heartbeat about its heartwarming rewards and impact. ❤️ 🐾 Discover more about our volunteer puppy raising program: canine.org/raise #puppy #puppies #servicedog #LeadWithIndependence

One of the key differences in supporting kinship caregivers vs. foster carers is that often kinship caregivers take in a child unexpectedly, leading to sudden changes in their life plans. This can have both financial and emotional implications. Its important when supporting kinship families to recognise that often both the child and the caregiver might have experienced emotional distress and/or loss leading to the need to care for the child. They won't always have had time to prepare for this transition and can have substantial impact on their own family dynamics. #GlobalKinshipCareWeek #KinshipCare
Kinship carers pay an essential service in society by stepping in to raise the children of relatives or friends. In the UK, more than 180,000 children live in kinship care. Anyone, anytime can become a kinship carer, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins or family friends. Raising a child can be difficult when you're not prepared for it, that's why ensuring kinship carers receive holistic support is so important. #ThisIsKinshipCare
