This week we launched at the Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh our Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience (PHSSR) report on the Sustainability and Resilience of the #heatlhcaresystem in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia   Like so many other countries the healthcare system in the Kingdom is struglling with issues like increasing demands due to an ageing population, rising burdens on health due to non-communicable diseases in the younger generation, shortages in workforce and legacy IT-systems.     As part of the Kingdom’s #vision2030 roadmap, an ambitous and very comprehensive transformation of the healthcare sector has been rolled out in recent years. Focussing on a new governance structure, based on corporatization and clustering, new models of care with a stronger emphasis on primary care, sustainable and innovative financing solutions and continuous improvements in the quality of services for Saudi citizens and residents. This has led to substantial improvements in health service quality, efficiency and safety. Resulting in an increase of the resilience of the healthcare system. The reports' case study into the Covid-19 approach is a testimony of this. What are the key take aways to further improve and keep the healthcare system sustainable in the coming years? 1. #Data is the new fuel for #healthcare, start with rolling out #electronichealthrecords and leverage data to improve care and support #populationhealthmanagement initiatives 2. Strengthen #primarycare, but strengthen it in an innovative way by linking primary care with #communitycare and combing physical and #digitalcare in a hybrid delivery model 3. Move from #workforceplanning for tomorrow to more strategic workforce planning, looking at new roles and skill mixes, taking care of an even distribution between urban and rural areas and creating a formal body for capacity planning and training for the future. Nairobi, Kenya ranks as 3rd city with the best healthcare system in Africa --- According to Numbeo, Nairobi, Kenya, emerges as the 3rd-best city regarding healthcare excellence, earning its place among the top cities on the continent for superior medical services. With a Health Care Index of 62.0, Nairobi stands on making the transformative strides being made in healthcare across Africa. State-of-the-art hospitals equipped with modern technology are reshaping the narrative, ensuring that residents have access to quality healthcare. In the face of health challenges, Nairobi exemplifies the resilience and commitment to building a robust healthcare infrastructure that can cater to the diverse needs of its population.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai have retained their positions as the top liveable cities in the Middle East and Africa, according to the Global Liveability Index 2024. Both cities improved their scores in healthcare and education, solidifying their rankings. Dubai closely followed Abu Dhabi in the second spot, highlighting its progress in these areas. Abu Dhabi is considered one of the safest cities globally, ranking first on the Safety Index with 88.2 points and lowest on the Crime Index with 11.8 points. Dubai ranked fifth on the list of the world's safest cities. These rankings are based on the "Crime and Safety Indexes" provided by Numbeo. In healthcare, Dubai has made significant strides, with 5,020 licensed healthcare facilities and 13,370 licensed doctors in the first quarter of 2024. Abu Dhabi has also seen growth, with 3,323 healthcare facilities and 12,922 licensed doctors by the end of 2022. These numbers demonstrate the cities' commitment to healthcare. In education, Abu Dhabi has 459 schools, including private, public, and mixed schools, during the 2023-2024 academic year. Dubai has 220 private schools.
