Hey #connections, Finally Annual Technical Fest 2024 of RCC Institute of Information Technology, TechTrix 2024 is over.🎉 I am delighted to announce that I have played a major role to build the website for this fest🚀. Tech Stack : NextJS, TypeScript, Supabase, Zustand, TailwindCSS, Google OAuth etc. The Website was used to take 900+ registrations for various events in online. Features: 1. An Events page where event categories are rendered, and every category has been rendered by dynamic routing. 2. Under every dynamic category routing, events are fetched from the database with their details, managed by state management, opening a wide box to show all details of a particular event with registration options. For registration, conditionally rendered for solo & team events, registrations were classified accordingly. Filtered feature of reg-cost free for accounts with SWC cleared college domain emails. 3. A categorized Team page to show all organizing members, with categories implemented by dynamic routing. 4. A user dashboard to show all the registered events and their confirmation status. 5. An admin dashboard to add events, edit events, access event registration status, and an approval dashboard for the registrations for Super admin roles. 6. A coordinator dashboard for event coordinators to see the registrations of their corresponding events, with CSV file download options and classification features on registrations. 7. A convenor dashboard for event convenors to access all the same features as coordinators but for all the events under the convenor's category (e.g., Robotics). 8. A Registrar dashboard for the registration team, including features like Offline Registration, checking college SWC fund clearance status for each college student with each college domain email's website login/registration/visiting status. 9. Combo events registration feature under specific categories and cross-category combo registrations (Robotics & Flagship events) with some discounts. 10. Creating referral links for outside registrations from community partners and saving each user's referral link with each registration's referral links for every event. 11. A user profile page for user details edit options except email. 12. A Gallery page to showcase previous year events photos and a Contacts page for contact numbers. All Thanks to the Tech Team Lead Soham Saha Roy and Technical AGS Shourya Shikhar Ghosh and Alimpan De. Without their guidance it was impossible to carry out such big project✨. Thanks to Shourya Shikhar Ghosh and Debanjan Malakar for providing a feasible database. Special thanks to Mainak Hajra for an unique retro themed UI and UX flow for the website as UI/UX is the pillar of Any Website🖼️. Thanks to all my teammates for their contributions : Shuvangi De Sansrita Saha Debopom Banerjee Sumit Mishra Arpan Ghosh 🌐Website : https://lnkd.in/gRxDK7rQ Soon Blog will be shared with more details. Luma vs. Meetup — summarizing some first experience from migrating a community. tl;dr Luma lacks discoverability, but with just a little (and cost-free) effort of promotion, I could level that out. Apart from that, Luma's friendlier, more modern, and presents your event in a more exciting way. If you live on a pig farm long enough, you'll get used to the smell. Undoubtedly, Meetup is the quasi-monopoly for hosting local communities. But is it cool? I'd say, it's just the pig farm that we got used to. Meetup is in a phase of enormous price increase, relying on their market strength. As a community-centric organizer I try to stay independent as much as possible to contribute to the dev community in the most useful ways. Meetup seems to have no interest in organizers like me any more, focusing on company money driven events instead. But it's not like there aren't any other players. Wolfram Kriesing and me are currently giving Luma a try. It's a charming and exciting platform, that's not as bloated and not as... populated. Community without events or people is not possible. Discoverability and reach matter and that's our major concern. Now it's just 2 days until both our first events organized via Luma are going to take place, And things look surprisingly promising for "my" Next.js Munich event. Compared to our last meet-up: more people have registered now on Luma than last time on Meetup. It's an unsafe comparison, of course, but it seems that promoting the event a bit through LinkedIn and on-site networking at other events has a bigger effect than the reach and discoverability Meetup provides. I'm curious on the show/no-show-rate. How reliable will the attendee number be? There's only one way to find out, and we're heading for it! 💪 And how's Luma for an organizer in general? You can clearly feel that they're building their platform in a lean way with simple solutions. And sometimes you get surprised with fanciness. To me, Luma presents a charming and engaging interface that makes for a promising experience. So far, flags are green to go with Luma. I'll keep you posted 😉 Find some links in the comments 👇 #meetup #luma #community #event #organization #devCommunity #communityEvent

I've been on a spree of attending back-to-back tech events recently, and it’s been instrumental in accelerating my learning, building valuable connections and receiving immense guidance. While it might look cool to be at events every weekend, there’s a lot more effort involved than just showing up. Here’s my secret to getting the most out of community events 🤫: 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭: 🔸 Spend 10 minutes checking out the speakers’ LinkedIn profiles and get an overview of the topics to stay engaged. 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭: 🔸 It's impossible to understand everything. So, I jot down important and unfamiliar terms to look up later. 🔸 Connect with as many people as possible. Learn about their roles and challenges, and see how I can collaborate in the future. 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭: 🔸 Spend 20 minutes to revisit my notes and organize them for future reference. 🔸 Maintain an Excel sheet of few quality connections I made with their names, contacts, roles and other details. This helps me know whom to reach out to in the future. 🔸 Send a follow-up message to my new connections, expressing how great it was to meet them and stay in touch. These steps have really helped me get the best out of each event. It does take a lot of effort, but trust me, it's worth it. Hope it helps you too! #communities #techevents #learning #growing #networking #connections

1000+ registrations, 600+ RSVPs, we still kept getting DMs from people to allow them to enter our 4th tech meetup even after the registrations were closed. Last Saturday, we at FutureGPT hosted our 4th meetup in collaboration with the Google for Developers at the Google Office, Bangalore. We had a capacity of only 150 folks, and we were housefull! Looks like we might need to accommodate more people next time. We usually receive an overwhelming response for our meetups, and we're always grateful for the same. But this time, it was just out of the world. Of course, we all know that it was because of announcing a hands-on workshop by Google for Developers, and therefore we had a huge bunch of students who were more interested in attending it. The hands-on workshop by Madhup Sukoon was the certainly the most interesting ones. It was interactive, informative and fun. Also, thanks to Madhup for explaining all the doubts of our attendees with ultimate patience, along with giving them a detailed idea about Function Calling in Gemini. Our panelists Sivakumar Dhakshinamoorthy, Lasya Ippagunta and Vinay Kumar Sankarapu shared their insights with us on how to find the right balance between Data Privacy Vs Data Utilization. We learnt about the entire journey of Vinay's startup, Arya.ai from the man himself, got Lasya's insights on how do we protect our devices, our data specifically with just being a little aware, and got Sivakumar's (or as I call him - the LEGEND) point of view on how knowing what kind of data we hold and keeping certain regulations can help us in controling what kind of data we are sharing! The panel discussion turned out to insightful, along with being a little funny everytime the speakers cracked jokes. We're grateful to all the speakers to take time out of their schedules and imparting their experiences & knowledge with our attendees as well. Thanks to the Google for Developers team to collaborate with us and allow us to host the event at the Google Office, Bangalore. Special thanks to Prasad Seth for organising this with us, and helping us get the venue sponsorship! W're grateful to all the volunteers Parth Garg, Varun Khachane & Tejashree Mahesh for stepping up. Lastly, this couldn't happened without our wonderful attendees. Everytime we do such meetups, we're always glad that we have such amazing and active participants. Thanks to everyone who attended the meetup! Looking forward to next one. Comment down below if you would like to attend our upcoming meetups!
