Inch Cape - one of Scotland’s largest offshore wind projects… The offshore wind industry is continuing to thrive in North East England & Scotland, and we’re continuing to capture it, showcasing the sheer scale and opportunities that are sitting right on our doorstep as the UK heads for net zero. The Inch Cape wind farm has been over 14 years in the making, and is a mega step for Scotland and its 2030 offshore wind ambitions. This project has its roots in Montrose, Cockenzie, Edinburgh, Leith and then Newcastle in England. Offshore Wind….Local Content!! I applaud the local content this is a huge step forward… I am a supporter and advocate for 100% Local content to be the GOAL always. ?….and what a way to start…..Awesome!!!! Just like Net Zero, Zero safety incident, Zero quality defects etc which are driven by policy and working documents to support achieving these goals. We also need strategic and tactical plans, policy and working document’s to achieve 100% local content.? Realistically like a RISK register if we list out and are transparent: 💚- GREEN - we can make it locally? 🧡- AMBER - could be built locally but automation and standardization and some investment is needed now to turn them to GREEN…£££ ? ❤️ - RED - not possible to build currently (COST should not be the driver if it is we need to revisit AMBER and mitigate from there)? - reason I say cost, is it better the money flowing, even if a little high locally be better than sending work to high value/cheap labor countries for supply, where local content communities and countries receiving these goods don’t see the cash flowing benefits in their communities and the associated benefits? We need a plan to bring that work back and put plans in place £££ (annual rolling tactical plan based on a strategy), to reach 100% local content over GIG scale execution.? Govt and industry need to work together to make this happen.? Am I out in left field with this? Does this seem reasonable? Do you think this is achievable?

Discussing the lessons learned from the Empire Wind 1 project in New York with project partners COWI, Equinor and the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA). A project that has potential to power 1 million New York homes making it a cornerstone of offshore wind in US. We explored lessons learned in a global context as well as the great potential for more offshore wind worldwide. All speakers highlighted the importance of engaging local stakeholders and communities especially within fishing industries. Lack off coexistence between communities and energy providers has been an important obstacle for moving forward quicker with the Empire Wind 1 project as the local communities felt left out. For that reason future projects should be focused on involving them from the beginning while ensuring a local supply chain to create local jobs and to give communities a feeling of ownership. Permitting and affordability have also been key concerns. Lessons will prove tremendously valuable in the future buildout of renewable energy capacities. #dkbiz #dkgreen

🌊 The Future of Offshore Wind is Floating 🌊 For example, the Erebus Project, Wales' first floating offshore wind farm, is planned to be deployed off the Pembrokeshire coast in the Celtic Sea. The project construction is likely to commence in 2025 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in December 2026 🌬️⚡ This pioneering initiative by Blue Gem Wind (a TotalEnergies & Simply Blue Group joint venture) will generate 100 MW of clean energy, enough to power nearly 93,000 homes! Why floating wind? ✅ Access to deeper waters with stronger, more consistent wind speeds. ✅ Opens up 20+ GW potential in the Celtic Sea, transforming the local economy. ✅ Boosts energy security while supporting Welsh supply chains and jobs. While CAPEX and OPEX are higher for floating platforms compared to fixed-bottom structures, the benefits of accessing untapped wind resources in deeper waters far outweigh the costs. We are pleased to share the short film below showing the significant progress that has been made in the construction of Enoch Hill wind farm in East Ayrshire, Scotland, where all turbine installations are expected to be complete by the end of the month! This project, featuring 15 turbines, will have a total generating capacity of around 70MW, which is enough to power over 68,000 UK homes. Commissioning of the wind farm is planned for June 2025.
