Avangrid, part of Iberdrola, and Statkraft have formed a ‘new relationship between the two companies in the United States’ with the signing of a virtual PPA involving wind power in Illinois. Under the agreement, Statkraft will receive Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from Avangrid’s 300 MW Streator Cayuga Ridge South Wind Farm in Illinois. Statkraft also has a PPA in place with Iberdrola for the latter’s Korytnica II wind farm in Poland. “We are grateful to partner with organizations like Statkraft that share our commitment to accelerating a clean energy transition,” said Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO. “Climate change is a defining issue of our time and it is vital that we work together to meet the moment,” “Agreements like this are a good example of our active approach to managing merchant risk at Avangrid’s existing renewable energy facilities, while ensuring clean energy continues to flow to the communities where it’s needed most.” “This vPPA marks a significant milestone in the establishment and expansion of our PPA business in the United States”, stated Patrick Pfeiffer, Head of Statkraft US. “We are proud to partner with Avangrid as a continuation of our successful relationship with Iberdrola in Europe. The Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm is now complete, marking Germany’s largest offshore project with 913 MW capacity. This innovative project, completed with Ørsted, Siemens Gamesa, and Cadeler, will power over one million households. The Wind Osprey vessel played a key role, showcasing the power of innovation with its upgraded 1,600-ton main crane. Notably, this is Germany’s first offshore wind farm to skip a substation, connecting directly to the DolWin epsilon converter platform. Europe’s First Commercial-Scale Floating Offshore Wind Farm Secures All Planning Approvals Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn, a joint venture between Plenitude (Eni) and HitecVision, have obtained the offshore planning approval for the Green Volt floating wind farm offshore Scotland. With onshore consent announced earlier this month, Green Volt has now received all its planning approvals and remains on track to be the first commercial-scale floating offshore wind farm in Europe. When completed, Green Volt will include up to 35 floating wind turbines, providing up to 560 MW of renewable energy capacity. As part of Crown Estate Scotland’s Innovation and Targeted Oil & Gas (INTOG) leasing round, the project will deliver renewable electricity to oil and gas platforms, replacing existing natural gas and diesel power generation. Green Volt will also provide electricity to the UK grid. Green Volt, 50 per cent owned by Flotation Energy and 50 percent by Vårgrønn, is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 1 million tonnes per annum. #offshore #floatingoffshore #socsea24 #maritimeconnection https://lnkd.in/ezrtN8gQ

Good collaboration leads to world-class testing   The offshore wind turbines built at Odense Port are rapidly growing in both size and capacity. For just over a year, Odense Port has therefore been constructing a new hall for an upcoming test centre by Lindoe Offshore Renewables Center (LORC). This sizeable construction project is now about to have its roof installed.   Soon, the company R&D Test Systems will build the world’s most powerful facility for testing the main bearings of offshore wind turbines inside the hall, before the centre commences operations this autumn. #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy #WeembraceaGrowingWorld
