🚨 BREAKING: Minnesota’s largest coal plant, Boswell Energy Center, has leaked 1 million gallons of toxic coal ash into a reservoir off of the Mississippi River. This spill threatens our water, wildlife, and health. Sierra Club demands urgent cleanup and earlier retirement of coal units. Minnesota Power must transition to clean energy now to prevent future disasters. Read more: https://bit.ly/4d57ivh

What a privilege to be trusted to tell Bobby’s story. What sticks with me after our conversations is the resilience of those who helped build the U.S. energy legacy, like Kentucky coal miners. We owe it to people like Bobby to carry that legacy forward in a way that protects our planet and its inhabitants. #energy #energypolicy #renewables #renewableenergy #energytransformation
Great spotlight from our TNC comms colleagues (Julia Leopold) on the benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act for Americans in energy communities. We need to make sure folks like Bobby see themselves in the large projects that are being built in their communities enabled through these policy measures; we also need to make sure, just as much, that folks like Bobby get tangible projects built on their property, if they want them, for their economic and energy needs too.

What is #Radon and why should homeowners be aware of it? Radon is a naturally occurring, radioactive gas that is produced by the breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. It is colorless, tasteless, and odorless, which means the only way to know if you’re being exposed to radon is to test for it. Program Director-Climate, DoD OSD ODASD(ER&O) at United States Department of Defense born 314 ppm CO2
A little reported byproduct of fracking combined with induced seismicity and incomplete or ineffective well closure, that could happen for other underground storage measures inducing seismicity, say underground CO2 storage: “The pair have become first responders of sorts themselves as the area is affected by so-called “zombie” wells, or wells that should be plugged but are bursting back to life with toxic water.“ And why little reported? “Reeves County Emergency Manager Jerry Bullard declined to comment about the geyser, saying the county has little incentive to shout it from the rooftops when such things occur because most of the county budget comes from taxes paid by the oil and gas industry. “ Perfect example of an externality of climate change. Nobody is charging the originator of the waste geyser or the producer of the induced seismicity to account for the effects to people, their land, and their livelihoods.

None of this should go another step forward without the BASICS being answered, such as a simple, "How do we put out the fire?" Because they STILL cannot answer it, and they want dozens of these facilities in neighborhoods full of hundreds of homes and schools. What happens next time if a plume of poisonous gas envelopes a neighborhood or settles for a good period of time in a valley? What happens to the millions of gallons of now contaminated water that have poured through this toxic storage fire? Enough with the renewable fantasy. Enough with the climate cult dictating our lives with ZERO thought for the consequences. . https://lnkd.in/g7rgC7sW

Anaerobic Digestion and our recently announced National Biomethane Strategy - the benefits for Ireland Great interview with prof Jerry D Murphy from MaREI on RTE with Claire Byrne - well worth a listen. Jerry very eloquently explaining to Claire, in plain language, the circular energy system/circular economy benefits and the 3 products of anaerobic digestion. - bio-methane (replacing fossil methane) - bio-fertiliser (replacing fertiliser from fossil fuels) - bio-genic CO2 (replacing conventionally produced CO2 ) The Danish experience also highlighted -where 39% of gas demand now met by biomethane from anaerobic digestion - real lessons for Ireland #eng4climate #biomethane

The Colorado river fails to meet its obligations according to the 1922 agreement. The seven states (Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, California and Nevada) were counting on the river to supply their water needs forever, but the river is minimizing the water flow, and the disappointment is shared among politicians, farmers, water professionals and fellow citizens. On a more practical note. Water scarcity in South-West USA is obviously one of the biggest challenges the seven states are facing. This situation calls for a new, innovative, fresh approach, for example – Air Water Generator AWG. But not all AWG technologies can produce in dry climate conditions. At H2OLL we can produce top quality water in extra dry areas. We are looking for partners, strategic clients and distributors. Florida's nickname shines bright, but our energy mix? Not so much. 🚨 75% of our power comes from natural gas, leaving us vulnerable to price hikes and environmental harm! It's time to flip the switch. Here's the reality: • Solar is now 15% CHEAPER than gas! We're the Sunshine State, so why aren't we harnessing this free fuel? • Energy waste is costing us BIG TIME. We could see up to 47% reduction in bills with efficiency upgrades! Florida, on the front line of the climate crisis, must pave the way to an equitable phase-out of fossil fuels — for our health, our wallets, and our planet. P.S. Share this post and tag your representatives! Let's make our voices heard. ️ #SunshineForAll #RenewFL #EnergyIndependence #FPL #NaturalGas #SunshineState #Florida Source: Environmental Defense Fund, 2024
