Today marked the fourth in-person Kick Off Meeting for the Sport Transparency Index project in Warsaw, Poland, hosted by the Institute for Sport Governance. This 30-month initiative aims to establish a mechanism for objectively assessing all European Sport Stakeholders concerning Transparency levels across a set of universally applicable Integrity indicators. The Sport Transparency Index project aspires to enhance standards by highlighting current capacities and simultaneously creating avenues to foster positive change through related education, policy recommendations, and knowledge exchange initiatives. This meeting was a particular landmark for the project as it marks the culmination of the Pilot Study phase that built upon an in-depth mapping of the Sport Integrity and Good Governance Landscape which informed the creation of the 15 indicators which will be used to evaluate Sport Transparency in Europe at all Stakeholder Levels. The pilot study successfully validated the methodology and the project will now begin the final evaluations of European Sport and compile the first edition of the Sport Transparency Index for launch in 2025. SIGA EUROPE is proud to spearhead this multi-stakeholder project, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme. The project is designed to be inclusive and accessible to Stakeholders from every facet of the Sporting Ecosystem. Therefore, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬. Can India attempt something like this ( sports transparency index) for it's sports federations. It would be a huge fight against the politics and bureaucracy but greatly useful in the long term. The Sport Transparency Index project (Sport T-Index - funded by EU) has been devised to help support integrity interventions at the most fundamental level. It will help by benchmarking sport stakeholders including clubs, leagues, national associations and international governing bodies using universally applicable and appropriate criteria to evaluate, compare and contrast them against basic integrity-related transparency indicators. #sports #india #integrity

🚀 Reflecting on the incredible roundtable discussion on measuring and communicating impact in sport and physical activity hosted by ISCA - International Sport and Culture Association and Sports and Society Accelerator. We were honored to have Michael Sani share insights from Play Verto and Ashoka Sport for Changemaking on evaluating the long-term impact of #sportforchangemaking. We continue to be excited by questions such as: 🌟 What conditions in sport and sport for development programs support individuals in developing their agency and taking action in changemaking? 🌟 What is sport's contribution to building a community of changemakers? 🌟 How is sport inspiring communities to take action? We believe it takes all of us to demonstrate how sport contributes to long-term impact—and it takes a collective effort to develop the dataset needed to prove it. Let’s continue to explore these big questions and tackle the challenges of measurement together #SportForDevelopment #CommunityBuilding #ImpactMeasurement #sportforchangemaking
On 22 May, 2024, the Sports and Society Accelerator organised an online roundtable on measuring and communicating impact in the sports and physical activity (SAPA) ecosystem, in partnership with ISCA - International Sport and Culture Association. This first-of-its-kind event brought together stakeholders from India and Europe to discuss the theme. They shared invaluable insights, best practices, and challenges, driving forward our collective understanding and efforts. The event was watched by experts, practitioners, and other attendees from around the world. SSA has been working on the topic of impact assessment within the SAPA ecosystem in India, and the event was crucial in building the knowledge and awareness around it. We are pleased to share the highlights and learnings from this unique interaction, shedding light on the key themes that were discussed during the roundtable. The event was the first in a series of many that will look to gather international stakeholders and discuss key questions pertaining to the sector. As part of our Mission 100 – with every child playing and every Indian active - SSA is working to establish SAPA as a concept and priority, ensuring it becomes an integral part of public discourse and policy. Events and partnerships like this are key in moving forward towards that, especially bringing important issues from the SAPA ecosystem to the fore. Our next joint event with ISCA, slated for the first week of September 2024, will build on these key takeaways and introduce a new topic of interest. We invite you to take a look at these highlights, share your thoughts, and stay tuned for more information. Australia Sport has unveiled its sport strategy in anticipation of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and it stands out as one of the most exemplary strategies we've seen for several key reasons: 1. Defined start and end date: Unlike the often ambiguous long-term sport strategies that lack clear timelines, this plan is precise, with a well-defined start and finish. It avoids the pitfalls of open-ended planning, ensuring accountability and focus. 2. Comprehensive approach to participation and High Performance: The strategy uniquely integrates both participation and high performance within a single framework. This holistic approach addresses a common pitfall where countries only invest in high performance leading up to the Olympics, only to experience a decline in enthusiasm before and engagement and impact afterward. Australia's strategy is designed to sustain momentum pre, during and post Games, demonstrating a forward-thinking approach. 3. Global input and collaboration: Rather than relying on insular thinking or a "we know best" mentality, Australia Sport leaders sought expertise from around the world. By drawing on global best practices in sport development, they've ensured a strategy that is both innovative and grounded in proven success. 4. Commitment to activation, monitoring and reporting: Recognizing that a strategy on paper is only the first step, Australia Sport is now shifting their focus to the activation, monitoring and reporting phases. This proactive approach requires a different set of skills and a commitment to execution that goes beyond the glossy brochure PDF's. 5. Building on recent success: Fresh off an outstanding performance at the Paris Olympics, where they exceeded expectations given their population size, Australia is not resting on its laurels. Instead, they are using this success as a springboard to transition from good to great, continuously striving for improvement. As we often emphasize, the formula for success need not be re-invented as much as it need be implemented. Australia's purposeful plan is set to yield remarkable outcomes and we will all have a front row seat to the ‘secret' of how it all happened. Bravo! Troy Kirkham CF Bethany (Beth) McCorkindale Todd Faulds and many many others
