Globally, there's a lack of accurate data on disability, leaving people at risk of exclusion when they're not counted. At Sightsavers, we’re promoting inclusive data to ensure that no one is left behind. Here's the top 3 things we've learned so far: 1. Inclusive data leads to improved analysis and insights, helping us to better understand the people who are being left behind, and how we can support them. 2. We must influence governments to improve their collection and use of inclusive data so they can better understand their populations. 3. Collaboration with other organisations and people with disabilities is key to driving change and advocating for inclusive data. Hey everyone! 👋 Let's talk about economic inclusion and disability today because it's a super important and often overlooked topic. 💡 So, economic inclusion basically means ensuring that everyone, regardless of their abilities, has full access and opportunities to participate in the economy and earn a livelihood. Sounds fair, right? 💪 However, when it comes to people with disabilities, there are often barriers that prevent them from fully participating in the workforce. These barriers could be physical, like inaccessible workplaces, or attitudinal, like stigmatization and discrimination. 😔 But here's the thing: people with disabilities have tons of skills, talents, and ideas that can contribute immensely to the economy and society as a whole. By promoting economic inclusion, we can tap into this huge pool of talent and give everyone an equal shot at success. 💼 Thankfully, many organizations and initiatives are working towards economic inclusion for people with disabilities. They focus on things like providing accommodations, improving accessibility, and promoting inclusive hiring practices. 🙌 By supporting these efforts and spreading awareness, we can create a more inclusive society where everyone, regardless of their abilities, can thrive and fulfill their potential. 💫 So, let's keep the conversation going, advocate for change, and work towards economic inclusion and equal opportunities for people with disabilities. Together, we can make a difference! 💚 #EconomicInclusion #DisabilityRights #EqualOpportunities #NDISsupportSydney #DisabilitySupportSydney #NDISproviderSydney #SydneyDisabilityServices #InclusiveSydney #SupportingAbilities #NDISsupportNSW #SydneyDisabilitySupport #EmpoweringLives #SydneyDisabilityCare #InclusionMatters #SydneyNDIS #SupportingIndependence #HomeCareForDisabled #DisabilityHomeCare #SupportingIndependence #InclusiveCare #DisabilitySupportServices #CareForAllAbilities #HomeHealthcare #EmpoweringIndependence #InclusiveLiving #SupportingDisabledLives #InHomeSupport #AssureAbility

Activist and Podcast Host: Empowering communities through inclusion, resilience, and intellectual autonomy, dedicated to breaking barriers and inspiring change.
Are 30 Years of Accessibility Legislation Failing Persons With Access Needs? Nearly 30 years after the introduction of ##disabilitydiscrimination laws in the UK, a provocative podcast is questioning whether persons with access needs are truly being treated with increased #equality and respect. The latest hard-hitting episode of Talking Point puts #accessibility legislation under the microscope. Titled “Breaking Boundaries: A Pathway to #inclusion ,” the podcast examines the failures of legislation like the Disability Discrimination Act and Equality Act to curb discrimination against persons with additional requirements, despite ample provisions on paper. Presenter Philip Francis Anderson spotlights data revealing a nearly 30% employment gap between persons with access needs and the general working population. The podcast also airs alarming research by SCOPE showing 72% of persons with access needs experienced negative attitudes in the past year alone. While legislative efforts have fallen short, the episode early on showcases WelcoME – an empowering web platform connecting businesses and persons with access needs to drive inclusiveness. Its developer Gavin Neate explains how Welcome's training tools help transform customer service interactions to be more welcoming for all users regardless of additional requirements. “It’s not about making sure every building is totally accessible,” Neate says. “It’s about making sure staff understand what total accessibility means and are on the journey to implement it.” In contrast to ambiguous legislation, Welcome offers real-world solutions effecting positive change – from legislative intention to inclusive action. At its heart, Talking Point dares listeners to think differently on provocative topics. This hard-hitting episode on accessibility and inclusion will leave audiences questioning if enough has truly been done to enable equal opportunities for persons with access needs. Listen now

Inclusivity Matters It’s time for businesses to step up. I've rarely seen one truly cater to my needs as a person with a disability. Too often, essential accessibility guidelines are ignored, sending a clear message that I’m not valued. With 26% of Americans having a disability, many of which are invisible, it’s crucial for businesses to recognize and accommodate all needs. Let’s push for true inclusivity and show that every customer matters. 🌟♿️ #InclusivityMatters #AccessibilityForAll #DisabilityAwareness #InvisibleDisabilities #CustomerCare #BusinessInclusivity #TrueAccessibility
