I am glad that you and Willem van Lammeren were able to discuss the challenges of technical and organisational convergence, stressing the importance of understanding the ways of working between IT and OT to foster innovation and collaboration. I am glad you broke down the different stages of the #IndustrialDigitalJourney, #IDJ, model, emphasising the significance of data platforms in data-driven projects. Although it seems that many organisations are still in the early stages of their "IDJ" journey, you explained this by expressing the many challenges these organisations face when trying to leap to more advanced stages without proper organisational and technical maturity. The importance of data quality, data governance, and providing easy access to data in a unified way for different roles within the organisation is highlighted as crucial for the success of data-driven initiatives. (Utilising Analytics For Industry's #EnergyManagementSystem in conjunction with Timeseer.AI's data quality metrics helps achieve that goal). Overall, my personal take, is that this article provides valuable insights into the complexities of IT/OT convergence and the necessity of a strategic and step-by-step approach to digital transformation in the industry.

This is the first time I've seen a dollar amount attached to the cost of bad data and I'm not surprised. Many of us have heard the phrase 'garbage in, garbage out' but I feel we use it rather flippantly without considering the actual downstream impacts of bad data. As someone who has led large efforts to achieve and sustain quality data, I have truly seen the positive impact of going through the monumental effort to do so. It takes a village and it isn't the 'sexiest' work out there BUT the benefits are multiple. For organizations who embrace it, good data truly forms the backbone of decision making.
