The underemployment rate for young adults with disabilities is about 80%. These adults are so limited in the opportunities that are afforded to them, yet they have so much to offer the world if they are given a chance. The opportunity to work and earn a paycheck affords disabled adults the independence and feeling of accomplishment that we all crave. That's why bringing awareness to Disability Employment Awareness Month is so important in October, and all year round. We need to create a more inclusive and accessible world where disabled adults are given the chance to contribute. Where they can be seen, heard, and valued. And where they can participate in society, just like their non-disabled peers. Our mission as a nonprofit is to provide adults with disabilities meaningful, paid employment, and we know there are so many businesses and organizations out there doing similar work. This month, please support organizations like ours and help spread the word about why creating an inclusive workforce matters.
