PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (IDX: MDKA) recorded significant investment growth in strategic projects. One of them is on the Seven Hills Copper Project in Banyuwangi, East Java. According to the 1-2024 quarter report, since 2018 Merdeka has allocated funds of up to USD 200 million for the development of the potential project of Seven Hills Copper Mine. The investment was used to develop projects to advanced stages, including the construction of underground exploration 1890 meters long, the definition of drilling resources, geological modeling, and technical studies. Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) started the first shipment of copper concentrate from Amamapare Port, Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province to PTFI smelter at the Special Economic Zone (KEK), Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE), Gresik, East Java Province, which started operational in June 2024. "PTFI's smelter in Gresik is ready to operate, so we are starting the first shipment of copper concentrate. PT. BUMI Resources, Tbk. (BUMI) has revealed that despite facing numerous challenges this year, the company was still able to achieve slightly higher profits compared to last year. Dileep Srivastava, BUMI's Independent Director and Corporate Secretary, highlighted that these challenges stemmed from various factors such as pricing, supply and demand dynamics. "We have faced several challenges in this very dynamic sector, including issues related to pricing, availability, supply, shifts in demand, increased production both here and in India and China, regulatory challenges, Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) impacts, pricing subsidy effects, and uneven royalty structures across the sector and mineral subsidies," he stated during a virtual press conference on Thursday, August 15. PT RMK Energy Tbk (RMKE) conducted an acquisition of 3 mines in Jambi through a share purchase carried out by PT Nusantara Bara Tambang (NBT), an indirectly owned subsidiary with a 55% shareholding. This transaction was completed on July 16, 2024, by signing a share purchase agreement between Nusantara Energy Limited (NEL) and Nusantara (Luxembourg) SARL (NS) as the sellers and NBT as the buyer. NBT will acquire NEL and NS shares in PT Artha Nusantara Mining (ANM) and PT Artha Nusantara Resources (ANR) with a transaction value of USD80 million (or equivalent to IDR1.3 trillion). ANM and ANR own 3 mining subsidiaries: PT Sinar Anugerah Sukses (SAS), PT Anugerah Jambi Coalindo (AJC), and PT Bakti Sarolangun Sejahtera (BSS). These three mines are located in Jambi and have resources of 537.7 million tons of coal with proven reserves of approximately 180 million tons of coal at stripping ratio 3:1. Collectively, these three mines produced a total of 700 thousand MT of coal last year. Together with its business group, RMKE will develop several integrated logistic facilities, similar to the Company’s operational area in Sumatra Selatan. These three mines will be integrated with a 109 km of hauling road, stockpiles, loading conveyor, and also jetty.

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) recorded coal sales of 20.1 million tons in the first half of 2024, reflecting a 15 percent year-on-year growth. This achievement marks the highest sales record for a semester period. PTBA's Director of Finance and Risk Management, Farida Thamrin, explained that this record was supported by coal export sales of 8.5 million tons during January-June 2024, an increase of 20 percent year-on-year.
