🔌 Exploring a Simple Boost Converter Circuit 🔋 In this circuit, a 555 timer IC is configured as an astable multivibrator mode. When a 3V supply is applied, the IC generates a continuous pulse whose frequency can be adjusted using a potentiometer connected to it. The output from the 555 timer IC drives a transistor, turning it ON. This transistor acts as an amplifier, and the amplified output is obtained from its collector pin. To smooth out any ripples in the output, an output capacitor (C3) is used. This straightforward design illustrates the basic principles of using pulse-width modulation (PWM) to control the switching of a transistor, thereby enabling voltage boosting capabilities.
