Delft-based Newton Energy Solutions has secured €2.5M from Fair Capital Impact Fund and existing shareholders, including Carteman Ventures (Deep Energy Technology Fund), TNO, and KÖNIG METALL group. NEStore, developed by Newton Energy Solutions, is a smart energy solution designed to transform energy usage. EPRI is among companies announced by The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO), for a grant under the project titled "𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗕𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆)." “The research we are conducting could help both extend the life of existing solar panels by 20 years or more, and make recycling solar panels more affordable,” said EPRI Technical Executive Cara Libby. “Last year, the U.S. added more solar than at any point in the past and it’s likely to continue to grow as part of the clean energy transition. As these solar panels reach the end of their lifespan in the decades to come, it will be increasingly important to ensure sustainable and cost-efficient practices as part of the entire PV system lifecycle.” This award focuses on advancing the circularity and lifecycle management of photovoltaic (PV) systems through innovative technology solutions and strategic partnerships. The NSW Electrification and Energy Systems Network (EESN) has awarded over $1 million in seed funding to support pioneering projects to accelerate decarbonisation and drive technological innovation. These grants, ranging from $50,000 to $200,000, empower university-industry collaborations to tackle challenges in renewable energy, electrification, and sustainable technology development. Funded projects include recycling lithium from discarded batteries, AI-driven energy management platforms, and real-time renewable energy trading platforms. Research initiatives also explore wireless energy harvesting, e-shuttle power optimisation, and advancing solar and battery calculator tools.
