Is scheduling winning the popularity contest in home care? Stephen Tweed’s latest insights suggest it might be. From the early results, it seems that scheduling has become the top priority for home care businesses in 2025, overtaking caregiver recruitment and retention. This shift makes sense. Conversations in the industry have been changing. Instead of hearing the constant challenges around caregiver recruitment and retention, I’m hearing more about - billing challenges - marketing struggles - and the pain of managing schedules. Scheduling isn’t just another task—it’s the heartbeat of a home care business. The exciting part? Software is innovating rapidly, introducing features that can make scheduling that much easier such as: - Splitting payors for a single shift, whether it’s combining insurance coverage with out-of-pocket payments for additional hours or siblings sharing the cost of their parents’ care. - Making bulk edits to schedules without starting from scratch, so your scheduler doesn’t have to drive themselves crazy. It’s all about making things easier, isn’t it? So what else would make scheduling easier for those involved? I’d love to hear your thoughts. ______ P.S. The survey ends this week - be sure to get involved!

Things are changing in Home Care in 2025. This week we are wrapping up our 2025 Future of Home Care Study, and I took a few minutes yesterday to take a sneak peak at the results so far. One of the things I noticed right away is that there are a number of questions where the results are different in 2025 from the results in 2024. For example, in our question ranking the importance of the twelve systems in a Home Care company, the response of "Client and Caregiver Scheduling System" has moved up from number three to number one. "Caregiver Recruiting" has moved down to number two, and "Caregiver Retention" has moved down to number three. What do you think that means? What is causing that shift in priorities since last year at this time? Response to this year's survey has been impressive, and the number of respondents is up nearly 20%. The survey is open for the rest of this week, and we expect the response rate to be up over 25% from last year. If you are the owner, CEO, or a c-suite leader of a company providing in-home personal care to older adults, we'd love to hear from you. The link to the survey is in the graphic, and I'll put a direct link in the comments. Thanks so much for staying connected and being a thought-leader in Home Care.
