A group of business leaders from the pension funds and financial services from across the US and the broader African diaspora attended this unique discussion. The panel enabled an exclusive insight into the recent acquisition of #MavinGlobal by #UMG. This was an absolute #RareTreat and first time interview provided by Peter Tega Oghenejobo, COO of Mavin and Linda Oramasionwu-Leverette, the Kupanda founding partner who worked on the transaction. We managed with Abi Mustapha-Maduakor, CA, MBA the Boss of AVCA - The African Private Capital Association and Wale Ayeni the Head of Helios Digital Ventures to delve into innovative investments by institutional players in these domains, examined growth trajectories, and discuss successful #Exits. Launch of UK-Africa Innovation Trust Corridor Report to Boost Research and Innovation Exchange A report on the UK-Africa Innovation Trust Corridor (ITC) was unveiled at the inaugural Africa Research and Innovation Commercialization Summit (ARICS 2024) in Accra, paving the way for enhanced collaboration in research and innovation between the United Kingdom and African Commonwealth nations. This initiative aims to establish a secure, transparent framework for exchanging innovation outputs, safeguarding intellectual property rights, and fostering commercialization across borders. Highlighting the challenges of bureaucracy, funding gaps, and the need for stronger infrastructures, the report also outlines the vast opportunities for co-creation, market education, and entrepreneurship that lie within this partnership. With the UK as the anchor region, the ITC is set to strengthen bilateral relations, improve research quality, and open new markets, particularly for SMEs, which is in line with the AfCFTA's goals. Funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, this collaboration promises to drive significant progress in realizing sustainable development goals through innovation and knowledge sharing across the continent. Johanna Monthe emphasized the power of forging meaningful connections, underscoring how the Francophone Africa Business Summit bridged assumptions and brought together stakeholders, investors, policymakers, and economic influencers to chart a collaborative course for investment in the region. She elaborated also on the approach to entering a market, emphasizing the importance of gradual entry rather than diving in all at once. She likely suggested starting small, perhaps with a pilot project or a limited product/service offering, to test the waters and gradually expand as you gain insights, establish relationships, and understand the market dynamics. This incremental approach allows for better risk management, adaptation to local conditions, and building a solid foundation for sustainable growth. Meanwhile Valerie Neim highlighted the importance of transcending language barriers, emphasizing that linguistic differences should not hinder investment opportunities.
