Dear Caregiver, It’s okay for you to cry 😢. It’s okay to show emotion. 😩 While you’re caregiving, life is not stopping, and sometimes that can feel like too much to bear. You may feel that you have to always hold it together because someone is depending on you. Not true. You have the right to feel and to express your feelings. 🥹 Quick story: I’m not typically a person that shows my emotions (which I’m now growing in this area). I have long considered myself the ‘strong’ one and able to handle a lot of pressure. One day as I was caring for my loved one, the pressure had finally broken. I couldn’t hold back my tears - it had to be released. They decided to come while I was tending to my loved one. I thought, “Dang. Not right now tears! Wait until I can be alone!” My loved one grabbed my hand, and just held it. Slightly rocking. And looked at me with love and compassion. I took a pause and was able to be comforted by the one I was caring for. 😌 Caregiver, don’t be afraid to be vulnerable. You never know how God will use your authenticity in feeling to help the one you care for to see that you have feelings too. It may seem a little scary to do, but dare I say it may be necessary. 🫂 With love, grace, and compassion, A fellow caregiver 💚 #caregiving #vulnerability #emotions # caregivers #healthcareworkers #familycaregivers #dcotorofphysicaltherapy #geriatricclinicalspecialist #fellowcaregiver

⭐Caregiver Self-Care⭐ When you are on a caregiver journey, there will be a time when you need support—not just for the care of the one you love, but also for your own mental and physical health. It’s hard to go out and do things for yourself when you're caring for someone who can't. And often, you don’t want to do anything without them. But it’s so important. Even if it’s just little moments. Never feel guilty for filling your tank. Whatever your role, take the time you need and remind yourself of the value that you have. You can spiral quickly, check in with yourself and keep track of how you feel. Self-care is not just about spas or lavish vacations, as nice as those outlets could be. In caregiver journeys, self-care is the daily key to survival. It’s little glimpses of light and hope in long days. It’s the fuel needed to face every challenging day. Accept help from trusted family and friends. Schedule little breaks in your day, even if it's just to take a walk or run to the store. Most communities have amazing organizations that are there to help you; take advantages of those services—even if it feels uncomfortable. You are doing everything for them, yet you matter too. ❤ Don’t be afraid, to care for yourself. #thelongestgoodbye #selfcare #caregivers #caregivingsupport #caregivingtips #alzheimersawareness #alzheimersassociation Order, or leave a review here https://lnkd.in/eTig2hg7

Proactively Managing the Caregiver Journey – 4 Practical Tips Fellow Caregivers, I am sharing these valuable self-care tips from an insightful article I recently read. Key takeaways include: 1️⃣ Prioritize Basic Needs: Self-care isn't about luxury but about prioritizing your basic needs - sleep, nutrition, and hydration, which are often neglected but essential for maintaining energy and well-being. 2️⃣ Seek Support and Services: Remember, you are not alone in the caregiving journey. Community resources like adult day care and organizations can provide practical solutions and emotional support, reducing the burden and offering a helping hand. 3️⃣ Find Joy: Take time to rediscover hobbies and spend quality time with loved ones. These activities can provide a much-needed break and rejuvenate your spirit. 4️⃣ Acknowledge Contradictions: While caregiving can be exhausting and frustrating, reflecting on daily small positives can help foster a sense of accomplishment and gratitude. Caregiving is challenging, but you're not alone. Let's support each other! #caregiver #selfcare #mentalhealth #mirakare

🫶Caregiving is never an easy role to fill. For those caring for someone with Dementia, that role progressively becomes more challenging as the disease advances. Here are some ways you can ensure empathetic and compassionate care for those with Dementia: ⌚Try to partake in daily activities (dressing, bathing, eating, hobbies, etc.) at the same time each day. ✍️Assist them in writing down lists, appointments, reminders, etc. 👚Buy easy-to-wear clothing that is comfortable and loose-fitting. 🍲Serve meals in a familiar place and at a consistent time. 🗣️Speak calmly, reassuringly, and respectfully, encouraging two-way conversation as long as possible. 🖼️Keep familiar items like photographs around to provide comfort. 🤫Have regular quiet time throughout the day. 🤍Take time for your own self-care! Enjoy peace of mind with a Risen Devices medical ID bracelet containing all their medical records for easy and secure access. ... #risendevices #dementiacaregiver #alzheimerssupport #seniorshealthcare #medicalidbracelet
