Did you know that access to urban green space is crucial for positive perinatal health outcomes? A recent review highlights that limited green space is linked to adverse birth outcomes. This underscores the need for us to integrate education about green space benefits into our preconception counseling and antenatal care. By doing so, we can help mitigate poor perinatal outcomes and promote health equity.

This is EXACTLY what we are addressing at Transformed Birth Services! So proud of our team and the work we have done to bridge these gaps. --> "Since birthing people of color and birthing people who are low-income face barriers when it comes to receiving equitable perinatal and postpartum health care, doulas with lived experience and/or similar backgrounds can understand the challenges or concerns their clients experience and provide relevant support and even advocacy in the clinical setting."
Our doulas not only understand their clients, we are improving health outcomes.

"Alarming trends of increasing C-sections In India -Time To Introspect and take action".
Thank you Dr. Smita Bisen for sharing valuable insights and experiences with us today. We are inspired by the commendable work you're doing.
Globally, the surge in C-section rates demands attention. While Caesarean section is indeed a life- saving procedure in complicated situations, the current 47.4% prevalence in Indian private hospitals surpasses the 15% recommended threshold by the World Health Organization. Our conversation shed light on crucial contributing factors and interventions, emphasizing lifestyle modifications, awareness among women about natural delivery and preparedness to alleviate fears. We also stressed the necessity of a multifaceted approach involving various stakeholders in addressing this issue.
Unishakti, under Dr. Smita Bisen's leadership, addresses these gaps, leading the charge for change. Today's discourse underscored diverse perspectives and actionable interventions to combat this trend.
Special thanks to my colleague Dr. Reshma Rajendran, Professor Heather Butts for her unwavering support, and Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health for the platform to drive meaningful discussions.
