The Agenda 2063 seeks to deliver on a set of Seven Aspirations and over the course of the following weeks. l will unpack these aspirations together with their intended goals.
Aspiration 1: A prosperous Africa based on inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Goal 1:
A high standard of living, quality of life and well-being for all
ending poverty, inequalities of income and opportunity; job creation, especially addressing youth unemployment; facing up to the challenges of rapid population growth and urbanization, improvement of habitats and access to basic necessities of life – water, sanitation, electricity; providing social security and protection.
One of the critical elements is ending poverty. It has been number one from the Millennium Development Goals and now the Sustainable Development Goals. The UN organisations, and all NGOs with the millions of dollars have failed in this regard for the past 2 decades. The aid being received has not been well crafted to solve our problem.
The greatest resources that the continent has are the Climate, water bodies and its Soils. Agriculture is the key to solving the issue of Poverty. By Agriculture l do not mean Subsistence farming. There has to be a consented effort by Governments to boost commercial agricultural production, value edition and exporttation thereof. Intensive Agriculture will contribute to increases in GDPs. Across media platforms l have already seen the youth in South Africa and Kenya who have embarked on serious cattle ranching and goat farming. Supporting these projects in various communities will ease the unemployment and generate income for the families living in those communities. This will have ripple effects on the standard of living.
