This post will not make me popular. I know this, but I’m going to post it anyway. At 22 years old, the young man in the shared post has the road freight industry at his feet. He’s excited about his job, and his boss has put a lot of faith in him, which is awesome. He’s clearly worthy of such confidence and faith, which is rare in our industry. In short - he’s a diamond. However, if he doesn’t change his lifestyle, he’s not going to be around to fulfil his ambitions 😢 This is NOT a body shaming post. I’m very concerned for his future but I admit I don’t know what he’s eating; or drinking; or whether he’s exercising or not; or whether he has health conditions that cause him to appear, in the only photo I’ve seen of him, to be very overweight. My only concern is that he appears to be not of great health for a 22 year old. This is an amazing young person who has a wonderful future; the opportunity to have a family and maybe his own transport company. But if he doesn’t look after his health, it will be just a dream. A beautiful, tragic dream that isn’t realised. If we don’t start acting and doing something about the health of drivers in our industry, there won’t be an industry to worry about. I know that Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds has done amazing work with bp to offer wonderfully healthy options for drivers; but what happens when they’re not at a bp ? We need to do more. We need to encourage drivers to visit their Doctor every year as an absolute minimum to cover off all the items they should be for a health check. We need drivers to demand healthy options at truck stops, not fried food, regardless of whether it’s a bp or not. We need to promote healthy eating in the same manner as we promote mental health and road safety. Otherwise, people like Nick will become just another statistic of our industry. We need to do better for legends like him 💖
“I don’t think I’m going anywhere," beams young Nick Madden, 22. "I just love my job and I’m excited to go to work and I love what I do.”

Willy - great responses to the CNBC questions. And I agree that the banks have averted a crisis in commercial lending; however, plenty of other brewing challenges are ahead for most Americans. The yield curve is still inverted - bad news for most of the non-public developers/owners for the next 18 months. This will be a challenge for a substantial number of owners and their permanent lenders (CMBS and Agencies). Multifamily owners are facing unprecedented higher costs including insurance, property taxes, and labor. These costs will be passed along to tenants. However, a popular theme is that corporate greed is the problem and not the unprecedented inflation over the past three years. The Biden/Harris/Walz proposal to limit rent increases to 5% per annum will have unintended consequences. Class A- and B properties will not be improved, which will lead to a tsunami of sub-standard Class C properties. Affordable maybe, but unlivable. Check out New York and Chicago. Perversely, the affordable market has been propped up by 15 million new non-residents who are seeking shelter. The supply/demand curve for affordable housing has been rocked by this unprecedented demand. Rents are still rising despite significant supply increases. Not a great scenario when wage increases are significantly less than rent increases. And the $25,000 new homeowner credit will not be equitable. Renters who cannot qualify will be left behind -only new homeowners will qualify. What about all the buyers who just bought a home and did not receive this graft? This is akin to the college debt relief program - the students who worked hard to pay off the debt will be disenfranchised. IMHO, 2025 will strain consumers' wallets, particularly the majority of Americans who cannot/shouldn't pay more than 30% of their income on rent.

Hi Patrick Bet-David , Why not do the same $1 million proposal as you/your friends did with the debate between #RFK & the Doctor - and push that $1 million towards hiring 30 ex- #NavySeals like Jonathan T Gilliam , to provide #Trump perimeter security till after the election season? Jonathan T Gilliam & the Navy seal you interviewed twice are game to provide the security and knows a bunch of other ex Seals, too. You might get Erik Prince involved, too. In exhange, then for each of your #PBD Podcasts, they could phone in updates and video footage from Trump rallies and daily life, and that way serve as continous marketing for PBD Podcasts thereby attracting other audience you don't reach today. Furthermore, a #GoFundMe or #GiveSendGo could be made where you/your friends match every single small dollar donation - dollar for dollar - up to $500.000 , thereby making it a continous talkingpoint - and marketing tool - for PBD Podcast and Minnect , too. Then put all the seals into #Minnect, so PBD podcast listeners/viewers can ask all the #Seals questions, too. After 2nd attempt on Trump, then #SecretService protection #DEI hires are inadequate. U.S. Secret Service You could even get Elon Musk to chip in.
