The Royal Engineers Combat Water Supply System (CWSS) journey continues…. In line with the Land Industrial Strategy #LIS and as part of the British Army’s modernisation agenda, alongside our partners in Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) and KBR, Inc. Swindon, we have accelerated the delivery of a bulk water production capability to enhance our NATO readiness commitment for the Field Army. Through a training package, designed and delivered through KBR, our Royal Engineer soldiers can deliver potable and palatable water at scale on Operations. The CWSS containerised system can generate up to 12,000 litres of water per hour in theatre for direct issue or packaging. The CWSS eliminates the need for bottled water and unburdens the strategic logistic chain to focus on warfighting supply. #ProgrammeManagement #ProjectManagement

A contract to secure essential bridging equipment to the British Army will also sustain around 300 UK jobs has been announced today. The TYRO General Service Bridge (GSB) will be manufactured by #Stockport based WFEL Ltd. (a company of KNDS) who have a long history of building military bridges. Extending up to 46 meters - the length of five buses - and able to carry the weight of the Army's future tank, the challenger 3 (also reaching a major milestone this week), the bridges can be used to cross wet and dry gaps. Project TYRO GSB is another excellent example of close collaboration with Industry and our NATO partners to fill the capability gap left by the BR90 ABLE system going out of service. TYRO GSB will provide a significant improvement in capability terms, facilitating the mobility of future Armoured Brigade Combat Teams (ABCTs). Our Military Engineering team and colleagues from Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) FIMS OI, took the opportunity to visit KBR (UK) in Swindon as we conduct a deep dive into our new Combat Water Supply System (CWSS). The system has three key components; the Modular capability which replaces the 1980's era water production equipment's, and two brand new capabilities covering bulk water production (containerised) and a packaging system which negates the need for expensive and wasteful bottling plants. As we draw towards the end of 2023 we are much better informed to understand the equipment for which we, alongside our Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) partners, are developing class-leading sustainable training packages, so we can deliver a world class deployable water production capability for the British Army to use globally. #programmanagement #projectmanagement
