*** International Design Competition*** This is a great initiative by NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure! In addition to the intent of increasing the availability of high quality housing stock, the NSW Housing Pattern Book has the potential for many other positive effects, including: * Responsible use of public funds Stop starting building design from scratch at each site. Savings in construction cost can be re-invested in more sites Mid-rise uses less land space and reduced real estate costs * Utilise benefits of MMC already being developed by Homes NSW Increase local capability in the manufacture of mid-rise buildings using offsite construction. Offsite construction is more efficient than traditional construction on multi-storey buildings due to the inherent standardisation of building layout. * Ability to benchmark quality of construction between similar buildings * Earlier completion of construction compared to current status quo. * Reduced embodied carbon Good design = good value - Good design is an investment. #DfMA #DfMA-D #MMC #OffsiteConstruction #SmartConstruction Systemised Design Group Pty Ltd
