As we celebrate #HydrogenWeek, we wanted to share a trio of #fuelcell facts that illustrate how this technology has the power to redefine zero-emission mobility.
- Increased range and quick refuelling enable fuel cell powered applications to see greater efficiencies and uptime compared to their battery alternatives. Fuel cell powered #UAVs fly up to 5 times further and the refuelling process for #cars is as convenient as filling up with petrol or diesel.
- Hydrogen fuel cells are a clean and efficient source of electricity as they simply combine #hydrogen with oxygen from the air to generate power.
- Within the fuel cell family, #PEM fuel cells display the highest power densities making them particularly attractive for transportation and portable applications where minimum size and weight are required.
Stay tuned as we share further hydrogen insights this week.

Hydrogen vs Electric reminds me of VHS vs Betamax. Hydrogen has the potential to solve all manners of transport fueling. We need investment whichever form of power is being utilised.
Hydrogen for cars will never happen to any significant extent and probably not for any land transport. It’s just not viable. It's very expensive and inefficient to make the hydrogen. Then you need to use a lot more energy to compress it to 10,000psi. Then you have to transport it to a filling station, the car has to drive to the filling point, the filling process is not always very quick. Then the hydrogen is consumed in an internal combustion engine (30% efficient) or a fuel cell, (about 45% efficient).
At the moment almost all hydrogen is made from fossil fuel and produces a lot of CO2. It is expensive, but not as expensive as making hydrogen in a clean way by using solar energy to split water. So you can have expensive dirty hydrogen or clean very expensive hydrogen.
The cars are expensive with a lot of room taken up by tanks for the hydrogen. The tanks have a limited service life. There are very few hydrogen filling stations which are expensive and unreliable.
It is far easier to use the electricity you would have used to make clean hydrogen to charge batteries and run motors at over 90% efficiency.
Using hydrogen also gives the fossil fuel industry an excuse to continue to produce because there will probably not be enough clean (green) hydrogen available so it will be necessary to continue to make dirty (grey/brown) hydrogen from natural gas/coal.
Please, share your thoughts 🤔.
【Silver Medal at “International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2024” - Hydrogen Fuel Cell-Electric Off-grid Genset】
Everyone has heard of Hydrogen, but have you ever Google the word “Hydrogen” ? Hydrogen energy, Hydrogen power generation, Hydrogen -powered electric vehicles, and even the Hydrogen economy all show the significant importance of Hydrogen in our global development.
Last week, we introduced our “Smart Autonomous EV Charging Robot” to you. This time, let's introduce the “Hydrogen Fuel Cell-Electric Off-grid Genset” that won the Silver Medal at this year's “International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2024”!
This genset uses Hydrogen as its energy source and converts Hydrogen energy into electricity to charge electric vehicles. The entire process only produces a small amount of heat and water, without emitting any pollutants or greenhouse gases.
Moreover, this genset can be operated off-grid, so it can be used as a mobile power source in off-grid areas, areas with emission limitation, or even Industrial site to provide power and fast charging for electric vehicles!
