EM Troubleshooting: Alter Grounds. If the magnetic field is not round, if poor current is displayed during the initial 360-degree sweep, or the signal takes you to a non-target facility structure you may need to alter the grounds. This can be something as simple as pouring water on the ground rod in dry soil, using a longer ground rod at point A, moving the ground rod to a different location at point A, or adding or removing a ground at point B. (When possible.) Only make 1 change at a time, then re-inspect the magnetic field. CAUTION: Wherever the ground rod is placed, the transmitter's energy will flow. Placing the ground rod directly atop or beyond a non-target facility is ill advised, as it will generally cause signal to bleed onto the non-target line. BEST PRACTICE: Always conduct a 360-degree passive sweep before every locate. This can reveal where unknown subsurface facilities are and the best place to insert the ground rod. Doing this first can help eliminate the need to troubleshoot the ground at point A. It is also a safety concern, as you don't want to place a ground rod in contact with buried utilities. Patience is key. Regardless of whatever happens, always remember the steps already taken and what steps have not yet occurred. Innosea are proud to announce its recent support to marine innovation specialists Greenov on the numerical modelling of the SubSea Quieter (SSQ) - a system to reduce underwater noise and turbidity pollution generated by harbor works and pile driving operations for the installation of #OffshoreWind #Turbines. 💚 💡 This system is based on an innovative membrane that makes it adaptable to different types of foundation (monopile, jacket) and to the characteristics of the work site (depth, tide, current).The SSQ was tested during 3 months at the Saint Nazaire #OffshoreWind site early this year. Innosea's scope of work covered...👇🏽 🔢 Numerical modelling of the SSQ 📊 Evaluation of the system's performance under several environmental conditions The SSQ was able to successfully demonstrate the methodology for hydrodynamic assessment, as well as give valuable input for upcoming tank tests. 🛣 Moving ahead, the next steps in the collaboration will consist of defining the tank testing conditions for Greenov. The results of which, will help validate the system and further calibration of the numerical model. Spears, Aestus' Technical Sales Manager/Hydrogeologist, tomorrow as he presents " Electrical Hydrogeology Characterizes Groundwater Resources with More Certainty" at the Western Groundwater Congress.   Tuesday, October 8, 2024 Mini Session #1, 4-5pm, poster session 5:30-6:30pm (Pacific Time) To date, our understanding of groundwater systems has been largely based on observations at the ground surface, as well as interpolation of limited single point data from boreholes and wells. In recent years, advanced computing tools can be used to perform sophisticated data interpolations quicker and generate robust visual 3D outputs. However, the accuracy of 3D modelling outputs is often suspect given the vast majority of the 3D domain is not constrained by actual field data. Modern electrical hydrogeology scanning methods provide denser datasets for conceptualizing flow and transport in aquifers. Increased utilization of these technologies vastly improves cost effectiveness for project stakeholders. Airborne Electromagnetic (AEM) Surveys provide large-scale coverage of aquifers to detect regional scale flow paths and dominant fracture pathways. Ground-surface deployed electrical resistivity imaging (ERI) provides higher resolution targeting of potential drilling locations identified by AEM to optimize characterization of aquifer hydrogeologic parameters. High resolution monitoring of aquifer changes over time due to recharge, pumping effects, and/or salinity issues can be performed via temporal electrical resistivity imaging (TERI). This talk will review airborne and surface electrical datasets collected at a project site in southern Oklahoma. These static and temporal data were integrated and visualized in 3D. The results were used to define geologic structures, preferential pathways, and aquifer characteristics with more certainty at both the regional and site scales. This robust approach provided project stakeholders the ability to confidently understand a complicated groundwater system in fractured carbonate bedrock, and is the basis for further research regarding the potential use of managed aquifer recharge (MAR) to augment water supply for nearby landowners and municipalities.  #WGC2024 #Groundwater #WaterManagement #electricalhydrogeology #geotraxmonitoring #temporalelectricalimaging #remediation #csm #aestus #geotraxcsm+ #aestusgeotrax #highresolutionsitecharacterization #sitecharacterization #youneedmorecertainty
