What are AI futures? Which issues should we be focusing on? On the one hand, there is a whole large effort going on on #AIsafety, in particular focusing on the potential nefarious impact of large powerful systems. A important direction but not enough, imo: 1 - What are we missing with an over-focus on safety? Which opportunities, challenges, risks, exploitations, exclusions, abuses are we not addressing? 2 - A truly powerful model, is one that combines and extends human and machine capabilities. Much work is done on collaboration between heterogenous models, including human and machine intelligence, leveraging human collaboration. At the end of the day, any two people are an AGI system (more powerful than one person) 😆 , let's support joint human intelligence ! #AIfutures #AIgovernance #humanAIcollaboration #hybridintelligence #oecd AI Policy Lab @Umeå University OECD.AI
President ALLAI, Observer CAI (Council of Europe), Member OECD Expert Group on AI Incidents, frmr. Member High Level Expert Group on AI
Today and tomorrow, we (Virginia Dignum and I) are at the OECD.AI meeting of AI experts and the various Expert groups we sit on (AI Futures and AI Incidents). During the AI Futures expert group meeting Virginia stressed the importance of including ‘hybrid AI’, where AI and humans collaborate, in the AI futures debate. Tomorrow the Expert Group on AI Incidents (of which I’m a member) meets, so watch this space for more insights.
