1- In the US, we are educated about our rights, not as much about the responsibilities that come with it. If healthcare is a right, we need a paradigm shift from consumeristic thinking (“I want the advertised pill, I want it now, and I want it free”) to a reliance on self management (diet, exercise, cessation of unhealthy habits).
2- My criticism of the Affordable Care Act was that our system wasn’t ready for the influx of new patients. We first needed to boost the foundation; increase the number of physicians and nurses, streamline EHRs so there are fewer gaps in communication. Instead, we saw a rushed rise of midlevel providers, some who may not have the expertise to treat & manage the complex patients entering the healthcare system. We also saw experienced physicians pushed out of private practice due to the EHR requirements. So, we ended up with a corporate model for the cheapest, with a demanding populous for the most.

Why is our health care system failing? Do you think HealthCare Reform that was passed in 2014 is helping or making US healthcare worse?

Organizing your medical records and having access to them, yourself—is so critical and paramount in today’s somewhat segmented and digitalized Healthcare System.
Expecting anyone —including your own doctors —or even an ER doctor in an emergencyto have access to “MyChart” is poor planning.
“Life is not a straight line.”
We have seen it a thousand times before.
Planning matters. Preparation matters. For what matters most. Health. 🩺
