Calling all Digital Engineers!  “AS 7739.2:2023 Digital Engineering for Fixed Rail Infrastructure – Part 2: Technical Requirements” is now out for public consultation!! https://lnkd.in/gb5zW8-f This follows on from the formal release of AS7739.1 Part 1 Concepts & Principles that was published on the RISSB website earlier this year. https://lnkd.in/g7QzvRAX   AS7739 Part 2 provides a deep-dive into the Common Data Model and Common Data Dictionary, that will drive a step-change in data management in the rail sector. These solutions go beyond current BIM techniques, by providing a standardised relational database design to finally address many of the interoperability issues that impact major infrastructure projects.   As author of this standard, it’s really exciting to reach this important milestone. I’d like to extend my thanks again to Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (Australia) and the members of the Development Group review panel for all their help to get to this point. I’d also like to thank my business partner MJ Kim for all her support and guidance along the way.   Once completed, these two standards will provide comprehensive guidance and practical solutions that will transform data management awareness and capabilities throughout rail infrastructure sector. These standards will also provide a foundation for building the "digital thread" of data over the asset lifecycle and are essential for establishing sector-wide digital twins, smart infrastructure and smart cities. Over the next 8 weeks of public consultation, RISSB is seeking comments and feedback on this draft standard. You are now invited to review this document, provide technical feedback and help improve the final document for the rail sector.   To comment on the draft document, please use the commenting tools in Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat reader to comment in line with the text. Please return your PDF with comments to bwooldridge@rissb.com.au by Saturday, 7 October 2023.  #AS7739 #RISSB #digitalengineering  #datamanagement #digitaltwin  #digitaltransformation  #smartinfrastructure  #smartcities
