In 2022, we set out on a new journey – not by leaving our top marketing work behind but by layering in something bigger: a platform to explore sustainability in aviation, Sustainability In The Air. Have we mastered the art of sustainability content? That’s for others to decide. What we do know is this: with 10,000 subscribers and a seat at the table with some of the brightest minds in aviation and climate, we’ve carved out a strong, trusted place in the conversation. Our mission is simple but powerful: separating signal from the noise, building trust in travel, and making the complex journey to net zero feel clear. To the 10,000 of you who’ve joined us – thank you for fueling this journey. 💚

I’m looking forward to spending a few days learning all things about aviation #sustainability ✈️ highlighted topics for me will be the IATA Connect tool - that will bring more transparency and visibility to airfreight emissions - and SAF developments - despite all challenges, it is an option that works with the current fleet, engines and airport ground operation. If you are also attending, let’s connect!
We are looking forward to participating in this week's International Air Transport Association (IATA) World Sustainability Symposium. 🎬 Going green behind the scenes! The cast, crew, and gear that make our favorite shows and movies don't just show up on location and start shooting — a group of talented travel experts do a lot of heavy lifting to keep everyone on track. We teamed up with Media Flights, a pioneer in travel management for the media sector, to figure out how to do what they do best while putting sustainability in the spotlight. 🎉 Through meticulous emissions analysis and targeted sustainability strategies, our work together landed Media Flights on WeAreALBERT's Sustainable Suppliers directory, which highlights organizations taking meaningful steps toward a climate-smart media industry. Our Carbon Impact Analyst, Rosalin Brolly took us through the process and describes the specific action points that helped Media flights achieve this milestone in Thrust Insights, linked in the comments. 🏅 As you enjoy your next series or film, take a moment to appreciate the sustainable efforts that go unnoticed but make a huge impact. In fact, you can even look out for Albert's Sustainable Production certification at the end of the credits! #BehindTheScenes #EffortlesslyGreen

I learned so much interviewing Alanna James, who is leading the 94-year-old Hawaiian Airlines’ charge towards a sustainable future. Alanna and her team face unique sustainability challenges due to Hawaii's geographic isolation and vulnerability to climate change. "We're uniquely dependent on air service for connecting our communities, transporting goods, and supporting tourism, which is the economic engine of our state." The core theme of Hawaiian Airlines’ net zero journey is balancing the preservation of Hawaii's natural beauty and resources with the need to maintain essential air connectivity. In today's episode of Sustainability In The Air podcast, I learned about the airline's distinctive approach to sustainability and the challenges of operating in an island environment. Here are the key highlights of the conversation: 💚 Hawaiian Airlines’ unique sustainability challenges (2:52) 💚 The critical role of SAF in Hawaiian's strategy (8:53) 💚 Partnerships for local SAF production (13:30) 💚 Hawaiian's network and its reliance on SAF (18:28) 💚 Investing in innovative technologies like electric sea gliders (28:15) 💚 Operational efficiencies and fuel conservation initiatives (24:07) 💚 Challenges and potential of hydrogen-powered aircraft (36:58) 💚 Rapid Fire! Earth Day marks an annual reminder of our responsibility to protect and preserve our planet. This year, our Vice President for Sustainability and ESG Linden Coppell spoke to BusinessGreen about the future of sustainability in cruising. While we are on track to deliver our commitments on carbon intensity, Linden reiterates that there is still much to do, as we continue to progress towards our net zero greenhouse gas goal for the MSC Cruises fleet. The cruise industry cannot reach net zero alone and as such, collaboration with suppliers, regulators and government is essential in tackling the complex challenges of our industry’s transition to a net zero future. This week we are putting side by side two different points of view. Amelia DeLuca's | Chief Sustainability Officer | Delta Air Lines https://lnkd.in/g9THaSv8 and Future Energy Global | Aviation Sustainability & Strategy https://lnkd.in/gdDjNWJj While they propose two different POVs Amelia DeLuca focuses on SAF as “…Our North Star” and as this technology gets up to speed with demand, she is willing to take the time to prepare the path of strengthening relationships and partnerships extended between 5 or 10 years among Feedstock producers. In contrast, Patrick Edmond confirms that with SAF there is no way to keep it on schedule, its value is unattainable and will take longer than 2050 to make it accessible based on demand. IWG had spent some time following Amelia DeLuca and Patrick Edmond’s sustainable posts. Their message has always been consistent between hopeful versus not meeting the 2050 deadline. International Water-Guard wants to add a third Point of View: Fact. Today, the industry has a certified, proven, an actual system available to reduce fuel burn and CO2. Water weight can be managed and help reduce up to 400 pounds per flight. IWG Pre-Select System https://lnkd.in/gJmSuXN is an essential solution prior to SAF implementation that can be adopted today. It promises to prepare the path to SAF while being ready for implementation. IWG Pre-Select will also be the perfect complement to enhance processes once SAF becomes a fixture in the industry. #sustainability #workingtogether #SAF #waterweight #together #relationships #partnership
Delta Air Lines Chief Sustainability Officer Amelia DeLuca says sustainable aviation fuel is its "north star" as an industry. "It has been a really interesting product to watch evolve," she said onstage at #FortuneImpact. trib.al/ihJHuY2
