What makes for a good executor in your will? The default is usually to pick the most convenient person, however this may not always be what is best Here are four things to consider when naming your executor - Availability – can your executor give up a significant amount of their time for up to six months to settle the estate? - Complexity – is the executor able to understand how all of your assets should be transitioned? - Competency – has your executor dealt with finances in the past, and can they quickly pick up the skills they need to make decisions? - Relationships – will your executor be able to deal with the emotional issues around money and not just the numbers? If you need a helpful checklist to facilitate the conversation, comment below or message me directly Comment below with thoughts and questions For more information on these and other planning strategies, please message me separately #willplanning #estateplanning #financialplanning
