It was an amazing workshop by Maitreyee Kalaskar!🤗
I'm really impressed by how well she explained the tricky process of making illustrations from scratch. Even if you're just starting out, her teaching made it seem easy. Everyone came up with awesome ideas and sketches!
I learned something important: sometimes, all it takes to be creative is to put away your gadgets for a bit, grab some paper and a pencil, maybe play some music, and let your imagination run wild. You might surprise yourself with what you can create!
Some lesson/quotes that I would like to highlight from the event;
- "Don't be your first judge" - Beautifully said line, I think this is where people just don't show their work to others. As she rightly said, there is always an audience for the work that you put out, so just put yourself out and you'll find your audience.
- "You are not your work, but are your surrounding" - An extended version of the famous quote, but psychologically this makes a lot of sense as designing is widely connected with emotions. So you are your surroundings which in turn shapes your work.
- "Just start somewhere" - As she said, there may be opportunities that may be coming along your way and that can be a starting point, accept it and just start. Everything circles back somehow.
But above and all, I would really appreciate the effort of all the volunteers of SandCup Design Studio for their amazing hospitality and arrangement. I didn't feel that I spend the whole day there, it just seemed some moments!
So well so that I forgot to click pictures while I was there.😆
Looking forward for more such meet ups...
