Healthcare may not be the sector that immediately comes to mind when thinking about climate change, yet it is responsible for almost 5% of global emissions and up to 8.5% of the US carbon footprint. Big pharma giants such as GSK, AstraZeneca and Pfizer are now teaming up to work with their common suppliers and deliver economies of scale on absolute carbon emissions. Another cross-sector initiative is looking at standardizing ways of calculating emissions, with the potential to communicate carbon footprints on drug packs (similar to nutritional information provided across food and beverage). These initiatives have the potential to drive both sustainability-related ambition and competition across big pharma. Can you see a world where prescribers and patients could become true sustainability influencers? Are consumers ready to engage with the topic of climate change and sustainability when it comes to their health? Times are changing fast, and we've got our finger on the pulse. #Sustainability #BigPharma #Change #MarketResearch https://lnkd.in/e_H6tMvj
