Following on the back of Ryan’s arrival last week, we are continuing to bolster our Transactional and Part-Qualified team, adding Associate Director Danielle Holly.   Danielle, who is based in our Chorley office, has over 15 years of recruitment experience and alongside the above will also be looking at growing our business support search offering. Read on for why she chose to join us and what she hopes to accomplish in her first year here.     ◼ Why did you join Axon Moore?  🔸 I wanted to work for a company that put relationships first over quick wins and genuinely care about their people. Axon Moore live and breathe their values, internally and externally, which is a refreshing change in this competitive industry.     ◼ What do you enjoy about recruiting finance / business support roles?  🔸 I enjoy finding a really ambitious studier that’s ready to take their next step into a developing role as these types of candidates are at a stage where the next move could really have a big impact on their career. Business Support can be fun as it’s sometimes about personality rather than a skillset, so you almost get to match make your client and candidate, which is hard to do from a CV so building relationships on both sides is incredibly important.   ◼ What are your aims for your first year here?  🔸 I want to continue to build on our reputation in the transactional finance and part qualified market. This will stem from building and strengthening client relationships across Lancashire so that there a plenty of opportunities for part qualified accountants to join excellent businesses. 

Well over 4.5 years ago, I made the decision to leave Reed Finance (yes the large recruitment organisation) where I had enjoyed (thanks to my clients & candidates) for 13 years across Kent, Surrey, Sussex & South London, & then a relocation back to the South West in 2012 covering Cardiff, Bristol, Bath, Swindon & Cheltenham. I left in 2019 having smashed my budget & completed what I set out to do in that year & have been asked on multiple occasions ''why did you leave if you were doing so well?''. There are numerous reasons what prompted my leaving, but I have always left somewhere on a high & positive note, & the needs of my growing children further accelerated the want to move on & back to an SME sized recruitment business which I fell into originally 6 years prior to joining Reed Finance. I got an early birthday present on Saturday with these kind words below from my previous Director at Reed Finance, who I thoroughly enjoyed reporting to & working with on a day to day basis & through the Executive, Leadership & iSearch Team meetings he brought together in Birmingham & London once a quarter, that I was part of. Always a man of succinct & concise words so whilst short & sweet these words mean everything to me. 📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢 April 27, 2024, Robert managed Nicola directly I had the pleasure of working with Nicola for many years and she is a fantastic Senior Finance Recruiter. Nic is well connected and always went that extra mile for her candidates and clients. 📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢 Not one to blow my own trumpet as most that know me well, will agree. It makes me uncomfortable, but trust & understanding is a big thing when recruiting. Also, I am not naturally good at sales either (or social media😅 ), but what I am is an ex-Management Accountant that has huge amounts of real life experience & empathy from ACTUALLY doing the job, being the client & being the candidate on the other side of the fence. I know from first hand how not to treat people, as I had been treated whilst still an Accountant! That said, the industry has changed a lot since I was a Management Accountant thankfully. Scott Perry's #InterviewTip: I've been recruiting qualified finance positions in Dorset for over five years now. With the market proving more competitive for candidates, I wanted to offer an interview tip which is solely focused on you. You need to be able to articulate the value you add to employers - in addition to your previous achievements. This is especially apparent when interviewing for Finance Manager / Financial Controller positions where at this seniority, it's expected that will be able to complete all required accounting tasks. What differentiates you from your competition is your value-add proposition. This can be in many forms, be it systems and process improvement, commercial analysis and financial modelling or by providing a strong technical accounting skill set to aid with control and compliance. Do you know what your main priorities are this week? I do: 👉 Solid progress in the search for a Practice Manager 👉 Identification of a Billing & Collections specialist   I’ve been retained for the Practice Manager search, which means an exhaustive search, proactively researching and approaching every viable individual in commutable distance to the firm (based in the South Downs) to attract interest and assess suitability. 🕵♀️ It’s a highly attractive opportunity for a host of reasons. The firm, their culture, the variety in responsibilities and more, not least the 30+ days annual leave. 🏝 The Billing & Collections Specialist is an exclusive search, which involves deep focus search time. It’s proving to be a tricky one, as the firm’s client base is public sector, which make it challenging to match the earning potential of the larger corporate law firms. 🔎 I’m therefore looking for someone who places work/life balance and firm culture as their top priorities as they win hands down on that front. Don’t overstress and don’t give up! Searching for a new job can pose challenges, especially after a hectic workday or when time is scarce for perusing job listings. However, carve out time to conduct thorough research on roles that pique your interest to ensure they align with your criteria. Things to celebrate about #strata number 8. Diversity. Absolutely anybody and anyone can excel in strata management. The most successful practitioners can have the least expected pathways and the most unlikely backgrounds. Whilst it was once a career down-shift off-ramp for accountants, bankers, and other traditional ‘white collar’ roles, it’s now pretty much open to anyone and everyone. The most important ingredients I’ve found are enthusiasm, organisation (self) and curiosity. Most of the best strata managers I’ve worked with had no idea what strata was when they started.
