North Ayrshire Council’s Equal service is moving to Kilbirnie – and there are some exciting plans in the pipeline. Equal Supported Employment North Ayrshire is a supported employment service that guides people with long-term health conditions and disabilities into work and training. It comes under the banner of our Employability Service’s Your Next Move, Working North Ayrshire programme. And it offers a wide range of tailored support to get people back into work, start work for the first time or take a step up the career ladder. The team is leaving its office in the Trinity Church annexe building in Irvine for a brand new base – with more space, providing better outdoor opportunities and enhanced facilities in modern surroundings – at Lochshore Park in Kilbirnie. Employers’ Duty to Accommodate Family Status when Scheduling Shifts is Not Unlimited "...employers have an obligation to provide reasonable accommodation in the circumstances. In its recent decision, Aguele v. Family Options Inc.,[2] the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario confirmed that the duty for employers to accommodate family status as it relates to scheduling is not unlimited." https://ow.ly/viVG50TuqEh Sometimes getting to “DONE” is as simple as coffee & conversation. This morning #oxfordgrowthadvisors are at the Oxford May Morning Celebrations - a tradition dating back more than 500 years to herald the arrival of spring. 🌼🌸🌱 Of course, whilst in the UK 1st May is celebrated as May Day, in other parts of the world it's recognised as International Workers' Day or Labour Day - a day to recognise and commemorate the contributions of workers. At OGA, we recognise that at the heart of every successful company is its people. And those people and their contributions often go unrecognised. So, let's use May 1st as a Spring-board (see what we did there?! 😊) to creating work environments where employees feel recognised, valued, supported, and inspired to do their best work. Who's in? #MayDay #EmployeeWellbeing #TechGrowth #SaaSGrowth #OxfordGrowthAdvisors #OxfordMayMorning #MayMorning

If you watched the Kings Speech today, you will have heard a long list of plans from the new government. These are the ones that we think will have the biggest impact on your people processes: o Introduction of a new deal for working people to ban exploitative practices and enhance employment rights. o Establishment of an Industrial Strategy Council to support business and working people. o Establishment of Skills England to foster partnerships with employers and reforming the apprenticeship levy. o Commitment to making work pay and improving living standards across the UK. o Draft legislation to support pension schemes and enhance corporate governance. o Modernization of the Mental Health Act and initiatives to give equal attention to mental and physical health. o Legislation on race equality to enshrine the right to equal pay in law. o Bill to ban conversion practices, promoting inclusivity and protection against discrimination. While some speculate about what these changes will mean, we prefer to wait for the legislation before giving advice. Employers focusing now on supporting mental health and fostering inclusivity will adapt more easily to upcoming changes. Our advice: Focus on creating a great workplace today. Exciting news for workers across the UK and big changes for employers to manage! King Charles III announced a major shake-up of employment rights yesterday, outlining a "New Deal for Working People." This includes: *Ban on zero-hours contracts: This will provide much-needed security for those in unpredictable work. *Immediate workers' rights: Employees will have their rights protected from day one of their job. *Crackdown on fire and re-hire: This exploitative practice will be tackled to ensure fairer treatment. *Draft Race Equality Bill: This legislation aims to enshrine the right to equal pay in law, promoting fairness for all. *Apprenticeship Levy reform: Changes are coming to support skills development and future opportunities. This is a significant step towards a more secure and equitable workplace for everyone. What are your thoughts on these changes? #NewDeal #EmploymentRights #UK
