The Friday before a new hire's start date... There are nerves. Think about the last time you were a new hire and all the stuff that was on your mind. So we have two new hires starting in Dallas on Monday, and I texted them both to make sure they have everything they need. And I also volunteered that "hey you will also have a fellow new hire joining on Monday and they're awesome and you'll love meeting them and you're probably going to be best friends." The responses were full of "Yay!"'s and "I'm so excited!"'s and "OBE is awesome!"'s. And we have two new hires ready to go. And they are about to have a new best friend. Because #candidateexperience. Since Indeed wouldn’t let me say what I wanted to say on my review about working for Reynolds Consumer Products in Huntersville. If you are African American and have experience in industrial maintenance, and you get an interview, and get offered a Job. DO NOT ACCEPT IF THEY OFFER YOU A PM TECH ROLE. * It will be a bait and switch, and you will be a Dusty Glorified EHO… “Apparently that’s the Reynolds Way.” * They will sale you a dream about going on the 2-2-3 Schedule; But, it will never happen. * If you get Multi-craft then by all means. It’s a good group of guys, and Gal. * Don’t go to HR about anything, they will be all talk no action… * They talk about Diversity this and that. They are only diverse when it benefits THEM, in my observation. In Thermo there are two White Navy Guys they hire with 0 “Industrial Maintenance” experience ; And, they got hired for the Multi-Craft roll… Now, I was supposed get a call from Corporate HR… Ask me if I heard Anything??? To my fellow African Americans, AGAIN DO NOT ACCEPT A “PM TECH” job offer.. “NOTE: THEY HAVE NEVER HIRED A WHITE PM TECH, DO THE MATH.” To Indeed A person should be able to write a review about working at a company how ever they want as long is there is no expletives in the review… Especially if it is a true observation… * No Comments about Racism ???? HUH??? * So as long as the review is worded the way Indeed wants you to word it, they will post it, if not your review will not get posted for the public…

As I reflect on regional manufacturing trends and talent needs my eye casually caught a blurb highlighting that Cedar Point is hiring associates for HalloWeekends. Most positions offer up to $20 per hour and include flexible scheduling and benefits, discounts, reward and recognition programs, exclusive associate-only events, free tickets, and more. Why do I mention an amusement park when I'm generally talking to manufacturers? The fight for talent is fierce, even at the entry-level. Unemployment is at an all-time low: 3.3% I challenge those who say (or think), "No one wants to work anymore," to add "for me," to the end of that sentence. How do your pay and benefits compare?
