Africa Leadership Legacy continues to advocate for women Leadership inclusion through the various projects that it undertakes. This year we join the world in celebrating International Women’s Day under the theme “Inspire Inclusion”. As of 2022, 32% of senior management roles globally are held by women. This is the highest number ever recorded (Theus, 2022). However, women are still underrepresented compared to their presence as 50% of the population. Even with this minority percentage, women in leadership are greatly making positive strides to benefit organisations and the communities they are found in. Since 2023, Africa Leadership Legacy has been carrying out leadership research including a series of interviews titled “Meet the CEO”. We have interviewed CEOs from various parts of Africa with 92% of our CEOs being women. During this Month of Women, we showcase some of these women CEOs we have interviewed and see their response to the question we asked, “Do you believe that women are sufficiently represented in leadership?” Their answers will be on the posters we shall be posting to honor them. Let us all Inspire Inclusion as we celebrate women today! HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2024.

Passionate about Leadership Development and Civic Innovation | Visionary Leader | Obama Fellow | NYU Wagner Alum
REFLECTING, REDEFINING, AND RECONNECTING As we conclude the first month of the year, I've just completed my annual process of self-reflection and goal-setting. I'm excited to reintroduce myself on this platform, hoping my journey inspires you to embark on a similar reflective path for the year ahead. ✅ I'm Esther Wairimu Mwaniki, I hail from a lineage of resilient women driving societal change. Inspired by this legacy, I founded Lapid Leaders Africa, empowering African youth to be catalysts for positive transformation. ✅ Over the past close to decade, I've led Lapid, influencing thousands of young leaders across Africa. Our programs have left a profound impact, recognized by esteemed institutions like the Africa Leadership Institute. ✅ Championing the transformative power of women is one my bigger superpowers and has earned me prestigious accolades, including being the sole African woman among 20 global civic innovators recognized by the Obama Foundation and receiving the esteemed African Women in Public Service Fellowship by the Oprah Winfrey Foundation. ✅ I transitioned from a successful corporate career marked by major merger transactions, to passionately embrace social transformation. ✅ My expertise lies in guiding global corporations and grassroots initiatives towards sustainable solutions. ✅ Participating in events like the You’ve Got Business Digital Show by National Bank of Kenya reinforces my commitment to integrating corporate strategy with sustainable development for impactful organizational change. ✅ I thrive at the intersection of local and global, I've witnessed the magic of this intersection in the Climate Justice work by Taproot Earth —a testament to transformative potential when diverse perspectives converge. At the moment, my big thing is around connecting with individuals passionate about social transformation, leadership development, and building bridges from local to global. ➡️ But let's not stop at my journey—I'm eager to hear yours too! Share your stories of impact and purpose, let's collectively inspiring positive change. ➡️ Here's to a year of impactful storytelling, meaningful connections, and shared successes! #ImpactfulStories #PurposefulWork #SocialTransformation #LeadershipJourney
