Now, more than ever, the burden of care is weighing heavily on our customers and their patients. Over the last years we've seen CT play a stronger role in the coronary artery disease care pathway being recommended for first-line testing based on clinical studies that have underscored how a cardiac CT can improve outcomes for patients with suspected CAD. As patient volumes and the cost of care continue to increase it is an honor to have a product like the CT 5300 in our portfolio that can make this type of imaging more accessible. How do you deliver the timely care that is so essential to positive cardiac outcomes? Start with CT 5300. Discover why CT 5300 is built for cardiac. https://lnkd.in/gRGCjHUG

Deborah Heart and Lung Center recently announced it successfully implanted the AVEIR DR, the world’s first dual-chamber leadless #pacemakersystem from Abbott, which effectively treats people with abnormal or slow heart rhythms. The groundbreaking system, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), provides Browns Mills-based Deborah Heart and Lung Center with a new, minimally invasive option to treat the nearly 80% of people who require pacing in two chambers of the heart (both the right atrium and right ventricle). Unlike traditional pacemakers, leadless devices are implanted directly into the heart through a minimally invasive procedure and eliminate the need for cardiac leads. As a result, leadless pacemakers reduce people’s exposure to potential lead and pocket-related complications and offer a less restrictive and shorter recovery period post-implantation. https://lnkd.in/gjfCNvXz

When exploring reversable and treatable causes of cardiac arrest, both in practice and simulation practitioners are drawn towards the A,B,C,D,E Approach. ABCDE has become embedded in the management of acutely and critically unwell patients over the last 30 years. Yet the European Resuscitation Council ALS guidelines recommend the 4 H's and 4T's approach. Is it time to explore a change in approach? Djärv, T. and Kloeck, W. (2023) “Reversible causes: After three decades with 4H4Ts, might we be ready for the generic ABCDE approach?,” Resuscitation, 193(110019), p. 110019. doi: 10.1016/j.resuscitation.2023.110019. The Texas Heart Institute, #BiVACOR®, CHI St. Luke's Health - Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, and Baylor College of Medicine completed the first successful human #implantation of the BiVACOR Total Artificial Heart (TAH) on July 9, 2024. The procedure, performed at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, showed no complications and excellent performance, and four more patients will be enrolled in this human clinical study. Heart failure affects over 26 million people globally, and those experiencing #heartfailure have severely limited #transplant options. The BiVACOR® TAH is expected to function as a life-saving bridge-to-transplant treatment for patients with severe #ventricular heart failure. This rotary blood pump, designed with an innovative magnetic rotor that replaces both ventricles of a failing heart, directly addresses a critical need for mechanical circulatory support. Collaborative efforts like these are paving the way towards life-saving changes in cardiac care. https://ow.ly/eP2I50STRmW

Editor's choice 📖 Where can we land in the thoracic dissection? Read this interesting single centre retrospective study on 89 patients that underwent endovascular treatment of type B aortic dissection with long term follow-up revealing that zone 3 landing zone is safer in terms of avoiding retrograde type A dissection than zone 2 landing even if zone 3 is dissected. Intimal tears and overall complications appear not to be conditioned by the landing zone. https://lnkd.in/dwiYh4Zc
