#magisresearch / RE Air-Chair and RE Air-Armchair – a new take on the original designs of Jasper Morrison, bringing post-consumer waste back into the game! Magis is constantly experimenting with innovative technologies, that save time, energy resources and material, and has been looking for alternatives to traditional plastics for years, developing materials from waste or recycled components. Bell Chair, Costume and Alpina are perfect examples of this modus operandi. In 2000, Air-Chair was born, the first chair designed to be produced by air-moulding. This process allows to use less material and to make lightweight yet strong chairs in a matter of minutes. More than twenty years after we gave birth to RE Air-Chair and RE Air-Armchair, two new versions of the iconic chair, entirely made of 100% post-consumer plastic, obtained from the recycling of polylaminates and single-use food packaging. The component parts of polylaminates are separated: the paper is recycled as well as the plastic which is transformed into granules and used (loaded with glass fibre) for the production of these chairs. The two new models are available in a single finish, which is the colour resulting from the mix of materials, without the addition of dyes. #magis #REairchair #postconsumerplastic

Circular economy principles can be viewed by luminaries as preserving natural capital by controlling finite stocks. Furthermore, components, materials, and products must be circulating at their maximum utility at all times. How is this used in practice?
