Buenos dias mi gente! Today is National Coffee Day, so why not highlight the majesty that is Cafe Boricua! Puerto Rican coffee was served in the Vatican! Coffee production in Puerto Rico began in the 18th century and became a major agricultural product by the 19th century. Puerto Rican coffee was considered among the best in the world and was served in the cafes of Vienna, Paris, and Madrid. The Vatican purchased about 15,000 quintals of Puerto Rican coffee each year between the 1950s and 1960s. The Cooperativa Cafeteros de Puerto Rico, which registered the Café Rico brand in 1924, was a major supplier of coffee to the Vatican. Alto Grande is a super premium coffee that has been delivered to the Vatican and the Royal Courts of Europe. Puerto Rican coffee is known for its rich, bold flavor and aroma. It's often described as having a full body with hints of chocolate and nuts. The coffee beans are grown in the mountainous regions of Puerto Rico, where the ideal climate and soil conditions create a unique flavor profile. #PuertoRico #AltoGrande #CafeRico

Fitting, as this issue was guest edited by Spanish food visionary Ferran Adria from el Bulli foundation. Its pages are as such filled with stories that pay homage to Adria's approach to flavour and ingredients.🧑🍳 When it comes to using the word 'solera' in spirits - from rum to whisky - it isn't always a like-for-like application: 'It conjures romanticism and tradition; its pyramids represent the skill and science that make this time-honoured process work so successfully. The topic was about how wine professionals can place their products into retail chains. 🌏 These events also provided a platform to discuss market trends, positioning strategies, and current challenges in the wine industry. 🍇 At the heart of the presentation, I explored key elements developed in my OIV master's thesis, sharing practical tips and strategic advice for industry players explaining about things that work best in stores. ✨Main points of the presentation highlighted the necessity to understand the purchasing structure of targeted retailers and how to develop a mindset fitting buyer's expectations. If you have been watching the Australian Open then you have likely been wondering what the 1573 branding is all about? The answer is Baijiu. Since 2019, Guojiao 1573 has been highly visible behind the players in Rod Laver Arena, and Court 2 was even renamed to 1573 Arena. But what is it? Luzhou Laojiao is a Chinese distillery that dates back to 1573 AD in the Ming Dynasty. Guojiao 1573 (translated as National Cellar 1573) is baijiu and it's the most popular spirit in the world (most would guess whisky, vodka or gin!). In Mandarin, "bai" means "white" and "jiu" means "liquor". That pretty much describes it! This one is made from fermented sorghum and is usually served neat at room temperature.
