“If my child has use of other mobility equipment, do they really need a Wizzybug?” This is a question we hear quite a lot. Our answer? YES! A Wizzybug powered wheelchair should be viewed as -one- way of a child moving around and powered mobility does not have to replace a walking aid or a manual wheelchair. In fact, research has shown that the skills learnt through having something like a Wizzybug can transfer to other ways of getting mobile. A Wizzybug doesn’t have to replace other things and it doesn’t limit other ways of moving. What it can offer is the fun, exploration and mobility that a child might not yet be able achieve with other modes of mobility. https://lnkd.in/ekAa3qe4 #Designability #Wizzybug #mobilitymatters #mobilitysolutions

More modes of mobility = more ways to play! We don’t want parents or carers to be put off for applying for a Wizzybug powered wheelchair because their child uses other mobility equipment, too. In fact, research has shown that the skills learnt through having something like a Wizzybug can transfer to other ways of getting mobile 😊 https://lnkd.in/ekAa3qe4 [Video description: A young child using a Wizzybug is seen moving around having a great time and smiling with the captions: True or false: a powered wheelchair must replace other ways of moving around. False! Our Wizzybugs offer children from 14 months the chance to move, explore and play… But they don’t have to replace walkers, manual wheelchairs or therapies which may help them to learn and develop in other ways.] #Wizzybug #Designability #PoweredWheelchairs #Mobility

Out of all the concerns around children, today's parenting is being challenged by technology. In today's digital age, children are constantly exposed to electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, televisions, and video games. The growing involvement with and the negative impact of excessive screen time on children's development, especially their creativity and imagination. The Quebec Longitudinal Study of Child Development cohort study found a long-lasting connection between early screen media exposure and cognitive abilities, with each one-hour increase in TV exposure at two years of age corresponding to a 7% unit decrease in participation in class and a 6% unit decrease in math proficiency in the fourth grade. Research indicates that excessive screen time can have adverse effects on children's imagination and creativity. Continuous exposure to screens may restrict opportunities for unstructured play and imaginative exploration, which are crucial for fostering creativity. When children are constantly exposed to digital content, they may become passive consumers rather than active creators of ideas and stories. While screens and media offer numerous benefits and learning opportunities, it is crucial to strike a balance and restrict children's screen time. As parents and caregivers, it is our responsibility to provide chances for children to disconnect from screens and let them get bored!! This will lead to exploration, imaginative play, and creative activities. Children need the time, space, and opportunity to unleash their creativity and realize their full potential. A fun-filled movie that might take you to your childhood. #creativity #CreativityUnleashed #children #criticalthinking #creative #problemsolving #parenting https://lnkd.in/gdyfAgmw
