𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐍𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 I remember a story I once heard from an elder. A group of people was returning from the Kamakhya Temple in Assam when one of them noticed a foul smell coming from a dead dog on the street. They remarked, "Such a rotten, unbearable stench." Another person, however, focused on something else and said, "But look at his teeth, how they sparkle—so white and shining." In that moment, the first bowed down in respect to the one who could find beauty in even the most tragic of sights. It wasn't the situation that changed, but the perspective. The ability to see the good amidst the bad transformed how they experienced the world. This same principle can be applied to architecture. Is there really such a thing as bad architecture? Or is it that every structure, no matter how flawed or forgotten, carries within it a spark of ingenuity, a moment of thoughtfulness, or a reflection of the time and place in which it was built? Can we, as architects and writers, look deeper and see the good, even in designs that don’t initially appeal to us? Perhaps a building's awkward façade has a brilliant spatial arrangement inside, or maybe its materials speak of a time when resources were scarce, yet creativity abounded. Just like the shining white teeth in the story, what elements of architecture can we focus on to appreciate the brilliance that might not be immediately visible? As writers, architects, and students, it’s important to pause and reflect. When was the last time you found something good in a design most people dismissed? How did it change your view? Let’s use this space to share our stories, not just of the magnificent, but of the subtle, quiet successes that lie beneath the surface of every built form. Feel free to share your thoughts below or repost with your own story of finding beauty in the unexpected! Throwback time- -memorable experience -Jaipur -first-ever Arcasia event held in the city. What’s Arcasia? Arcasia Forum is a major regional gathering of architects occurring every two years from across the globe. The theme for the event? 'Happiness Through Architecture.' I have lovely memories of speaking on the theme-based topic, 'Window that opens to a whole new experience.' But ultimately, what do we achieve with all the talks and walks through a 3- or 4-day event? - My takeaway after attending many such prestigious events is that they primarily: → Foster intellectual, artistic, and educational ties, sparking meaningful exchanges and collaboration. → Facilitate the development of professional contacts and mutual cooperation, laying the foundation for future endeavors. → Recognize the pivotal role of architects in society, highlighting their contribution to shaping environments that enhance well-being and happiness. Reflecting on this experience reminds me of the power of architecture to inspire, connect, and uplift. Looking forward to continued collaboration and innovation in the field. 🌍 **Time Travel through Architecture: From Ichapur to Trivandrum** 🏛️ Reflecting on my recent travels has been a journey through time itself. From the quaint streets of Ichapur, reminiscent of British colonial architecture and the echoes of my school days in Madras, to the vibrant landscapes of Trivandrum, the similarities are striking. Walking through Ichapur, I couldn't help but marvel at the enduring legacy of British architecture. The old buildings, with their grand facades and intricate details, transported me back to a bygone era. It was a nostalgic reminder of my school days in Madras, where history came alive in every corner. Fast forward to Trivandrum, and I found myself immersed in a similar blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy. The architecture here, too, carries the unmistakable imprint of colonial influence, yet adapted to Kerala's unique cultural tapestry. It's like stepping into a time capsule where the past meets the present seamlessly. These travels have taught me that architecture is more than just bricks and mortar; it's a testament to the spirit of a place and its people. It's a journey through history, where each building tells a story waiting to be discovered. Have you experienced a similar sense of time travel through architecture? I'd love to hear your stories and reflections. #TravelDiaries #Architecture #TimeTravel #Ichapur #Trivandrum #MadrasMemories #LinkedInPost

Happy to share this semester's project, which addresses structural and community issues in Government staff quarters through conservation architecture. Which I designed for my master's degree in conservation and regeneration at CEPT University under the guidance of Shreyank Khemalapure and Sonal Mithal ma’am. • Project: Residential Resurgence: Reviving Shared Spaces for Enhanced Living. • Location: Athwa Lines, Surat. • Objective: Improve living conditions and foster community well-being by addressing structural and spatial challenges. • Challenge: Overcome structural deterioration, limited space, and lack of communal areas. • Project Approach: Enhance individual living spaces and promote social interaction through architectural interventions. • Interventions: -Expand balconies for versatile use -Create shared community spaces -Improve drainage and ventilation systems. • Impact: Improved living spaces, enhanced social cohesion, comfort, and structural resilience. This project involved site-level interventions which was done by a group of three (myself, Ar. Richa Patki and Aayush Dhagat) while the interventions on the Block J building were completed solely by me as my academic project at CEPT University. #ConservationArchitecture #UrbanRevitalization #CommunityWellBeing #HousingImprovement #Surat #SustainableDesign #Ahmedabad #ArchitecturalIntervention #SocialCohesion #UrbanDevelopment #ResilientLiving #StudentProject #CEPTUniversity #AffordableHousing #StructuralIntegrity #InclusiveDesign #CommunitySpaces #Athwalines
