Last night SFSD held the annual Native American Honoring Ceremony. This event honors our graduating (and 8th grade into 9th grade) Native American students in a way that is culturally significant and closely tied to certain practices and traditions. Congratulations to everybody who was honored!

Allyship means - spread the word - spearhead the movement! Lift your neighbors up - EQUITY requires ALLYSHIP!! Don't know what allyship is? Taken from Oxford Dictionary allyship (noun) active support for the rights of a minority or marginalized group without being a member of it. Sample sentence: "This training should emphasize tangible ways that employees can practice allyship, such as speaking out against discrimination." I have found that there is a pretty good training module on LinkedIn Learning for Diversity, Inclusion, & Equity. Allyship is included in the module. I encourage everyone navigating in a world of people (all of us) to take this training. At least you can see what is going on in the corporate world, in our schools, in our government, and everywhere. It will only help all of us navigate the landscape of today's social justice movements.

Why is Marxism taught at UW? It is an ideology of hate that promotes violence, class warfare, dictatorship of the proletariat, treating humans not as individuals but as members of a class. No country has benefited from Marxism. Marxism is responsible for 200 million deaths in the 20th century. The University of Washington should not hire Marxists for the same reason they should not hire Nazis. Can someone please explain what is going on at UW?
Celebrate the outstanding 2024 UW Awards of Excellence recipients who are being recognized for achievements in teaching, mentoring, public service and staff support. The awardees will be honored at a ceremony in Meany Hall at 3:30 p.m. on June 6. The program includes a one-hour ceremony hosted by President Ana Mari Cauce and Provost Tricia Serio, followed by a reception with hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a chance to connect and celebrate with your team members and the rest of the UW community.

Celebrating Black Belt Graduation: A Milestone in Education Today July 20, 2024, we proudly celebrate a remarkable achievement: #1MillionTeachers earned their black belts in 1st Dan, 2nd Dan, and 3rd Dan in the ancient commercial city of Kano. It was inspiring to see top anchor schools among the honorees and the addition of a College of Education to the esteemed list of black belters. The journey continues, and the flame of excellence in education burns brighter than ever. Our mission is to create lasting excellence in education, ensuring the spirit of 1 million teachers thrives in every classroom, school, and across Kano. "Show me your educational system, and I can tell you how your country is doing. Show me how you treat your teachers, and I can tell you the quality of your schools." We need a grassroots movement to empower teachers. No one else will solve this for us. The #1MT program is designed to be a toolbox for teachers. In a world where technology thrives, great teachers remain irreplaceable. This program is about empowerment: you have the toolbox—what will you do with it? Kano is not just a state but a beacon competing on a global scale. No one has ever become anything without a teacher. Teachers are like the US Marines known for their discipline and resilience. As educators, we must not see ourselves as transient workers but as dedicated professionals shaping the future. UNESCO predicts that by 2030, 50% of current teachers will exit the profession, and the world will need to recruit 40 million teachers, with 15 million from Africa. We must build our capacity and rise to the challenge. The time to act is now.
