Anecdotal: •It is important to consider the university when deciding whether to submit scores. For example, at Notre Dame (whose average SAT score is 1500 and ACT is 33-34), the Dean of Admissions stated that, if a student does not submit scores, Notre Dame will assume that (SAT) score is an 1100. High Point, on the other hand, to build prestige, will only (with very little exception) accept students above their middle 50 percentile of scores (SAT 1190, ACT 26) and will strongly recommend anyone below that middle 50% not to submit scores.

This is my second essay on the challenges in higher education in the last two weeks. "My essay last week, Higher education’s self-devaluation combined with the ideas here should have every college president worried. There are fewer kids that could attend college, there is less of an incentive to attend college, and students may be less interested in the college “experience.” Add to that the decreased learning in higher education and other self-inflicted wounds, and it is reasonable to expect a number of colleges to close. We will see." https://lnkd.in/gZ5vrE_a And the link for the essay last week: https://lnkd.in/g7BAfiJY

AP Test Preparation: Ironically, the de-emphasis of the SAT and ACT has made AP tests even more important to colleges as a way to differentiate between students. Grade inflation is real, so college are looking to any outside data to make sense of their applicants. “Thanks to you, I got a perfect 5 on the AP World History Exam... Woo Hoo!!” LINK IN BIO TO REGISTER! #abigailhillman #academicsuccess #collegeprep #collegeessays #collegeadmissions #abigailhillmanandassociates #writingsupport #collegedecisions #risingseniors #collegecounselor #academicsupport

The outputs of our collaborative project involving Manchester, UCL York and Imperial College have just been published on the QAA website. The research involved surveys, focus groups and interviews with teaching and professional services staff, students, external examiners and regulators across the 4 institutions. The findings and recommendations cover key aspects such as student engagement, inclusive assessment practices, fairness, student outcomes, and potential challenges. Additionally, there are 12 case studies highlighting best practice across a range of subject areas. It's worth noting that a recent high court ruling underscores the significance of assessment choice with its legally binding precedent setting out how higher education institutions need to adjust their methods of assessment to avoid discrimination. All resources can be found on the QAA website: https://lnkd.in/dS4Gnc2B
