In 2023, Sistah Space acquired our refuge. The refuge would be a safe space for our service users fleeing domestic abuse. Part of our #ADecadeofDedication fundraising campaign is to make this refuge operational so we can house survivors. If you would like to be a part of making this happen, you can donate to our 10 year campaign here: https://lnkd.in/eggVhama

28 Women have been murdered to violence since 2024, that is more than 1 per week. What Were You Wearing? - Australia National Rally has been created by individuals across every state/city in Australia as a response to this national emergency. I personally have been spending multiple hours before and after work organising the Sydney and Canberra rallies, as well as resources and logistics at a national level. All people working on this project are unpaid/volunteer and want to see real change be made within our government, systems and communities. We want these rallies to be as safe and as effective as possible, and unfortunately to do so certain things cost money. Due to this we have collectively agreed on making a Go Fund Me page to ask the community for help. Where will your donation be going? - making these as inclusive as possible including paid Welcome to Country, AUSLAN interpreters, accessibility aids, etc - extra security as we are very conscious of recent events and how many people (especially women) are feeling right now. - volunteer resources such as high-vis vests, sunscreen, flyers and more. We are not funded by the government and all donations we receive go to our healing groups and other services. WWYW are not funded by the government and all our donations and profits go to providing services for victim-survivors of SA. If you can spare $10 to help, we would be so appreciative. https://lnkd.in/gFDqgPFY

This moment is different. I see vast opportunities for our community. With talent, experience, drive, and strength in numbers, I believe it’s our time to lead, grow businesses, and build generational wealth. However, these opportunities are at greater risk than they have been in years. The social, political, and economic landscapes have shifted, particularly since the 2023 Supreme Court ruling on affirmative action. Race-based philanthropic investments are being challenged, DEI commitments have been scaled back, and fear is surfacing everywhere. Recent conversations I had have felt like echoes from the past. There were moments I felt fear for myself and my team, as we faced attacks for standing by our mission and values. But I am not backing down. The stakes are too high; this inflection point calls for courage, determination, and action. This Hispanic Heritage Month must be more than a celebration. It’s a call to renew our commitment to unlocking the Latino community’s full potential. We need real investments in organizations that build power, influence, and wealth. This is our chance to unite, strengthen our collective impact, and share a vision for the future. Together, we can drive meaningful change and safeguard generations of progress. I believe our best days are ahead because I’ve seen the power of this community. If you share this vision, the Latino Leadership Institute is ready to connect and make it a reality. 'The best way to predict the future is to create it.' - Lincoln" #LatinosLead #HispanicHeritageMonth #MoreThanACelebration

Children are not for sale. Yet in a report about active sex trafficking cases in 2020, a staggering 89% of them involved children aged 14-17, and even more heartbreaking, 12% were as young as 0-13 years old. At DeliverFund, we provide law enforcement with the technology and resources they need to dismantle human trafficking networks and protect children. Together, we can fight back. Today, on Nelson Mandela Day, let's champion justice over charity. ✊ Nelson Mandela famously said, "Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice." These words resonate deeply, especially on a day dedicated to celebrating his legacy. While charitable giving has its place, true progress comes from empowering individuals and communities to break free from the cycle of poverty. Here's how we can all contribute to a more just world: ✔️Support organizations that focus on education, skills development, and economic opportunities. ✔️Advocate for fair trade practices and ethical sourcing in our businesses. ⚖️ ✔️Promote financial inclusion and access to resources for underserved communities. ✔️Practice diversity and inclusion in the workplace to ensure equal opportunities. Let's move beyond handouts and build a world where everyone has the chance to thrive. #NelsonMandelaDay #JusticeOverCharity #EmpoweringChange
