Jamelatu Tsiwah was found dead at a house in Croydon last Monday. She was 31 years old. A man was charged with her murder on the 22nd of January. He was known to Jamelatu. In the UK, a woman is killed by a man every 3 days. In the majority of cases, the perpetrator is known to the victim. We are saddened to learn about yet another woman who has had her life unjustly cut short due to male violence. Our condolences are with Jamelatu's loved ones. #VAWG #JamelatuTsiwah

Wow, what a great loss. My condolences to her family. We can only stop this violence against women and girls when we start supporting each other rather than waiting for authorities to step in looking for evidence when is too late. Please do not dismiss when you get approached by someone revealing their abuse. Do you bit to protect them because that is the only way we can support and enable each other.

Croydon Council held an emergency meeting to discuss this on Monday - support for family mainly. We need to address the issue of Black femicide.

Could national hairdressers assoc spearhead an advertising campaign in male and female salons highlighting the issue and how/where to report? Everyone needs a haircut

This is a continual epidemic against our women. Change is needed now

This is 💔 another sister in less than a week announced as killed . May her soul rest in peace 🤲🏾

When will we address femicide as an 'extremist' crime? It's born out of the belief that women's lives are worth less? Such a waste of a life; when all lives can be 'high potential'.

Violence against women is not cultural but criminal, Equality can not come eventually but we need to fight for it now. Violence against women will only end when the culprits are punished and we stand our ground, claim back our streets and homes

So heart breaking. 💔💔💔 Nobody deserves to be in an abusive relationship, it doesn't matter if you're not the bread winner in the relationship. As work place incivility is rising by the minute in workplaces, abuse in marital relationships is rising too. Abuse of power, controlling behaviours, bullying, psychological and emotional tortures, gaslighting, arrogance, violence, behaggressiveness, manipulation, being judgmental, sarcasm, incessant questionings and sadly more are causing psychological injuries amongst victims of abuse.
