"Globally, research is done at universities, funded by governments, foundations or well wishers. With this kind of support in the biogas sector in Kenya, we would be 5-10 years ahead on the knowledge we have now; valorisation and various uses of bio slurry. We would like support for R&D to enhance innovation and product development. Secondly, awareness creation is very low in our local communities highlighting the need to disseminate and encourage knowledge sharing, capacity building and training to enhance sensitization. We also require support from the government on standards and quality to save end users from suffering losses from acquisition of sub-standard quality products. From Development partners, there is a gap at financial institutions, there is a need to set up a special facility that will cater to farmers needs, freeing biodigester companies from financing end users, with companies channeling towards enhancing innovations to advance sector growth." EUSUSO-Denmark (European Sustainable Solutions) ApS and REnergy Dynamics (RED) have joined forces to enhance methane yield and accelerate Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) production in India through a strategic collaboration. Leveraging advanced Danish bioenergy technology under the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership, they aim to introduce state-of-the-art CBG plants utilizing the CELLEBRIQ pre-treatment system. Developed by Dr. Torben Andreas Bonde, this system optimizes anaerobic digestion by processing agricultural residues like paddy straw, significantly reducing volume and boosting methane yield by 16-18%. Kushagra Nandan and Varun Karad of RED and Lars Rosgaard of EUSUSO underscored the partnership's commitment to sustainable technology solutions and importing Danish innovation to India's bioenergy market, signaling a transformative leap in CBG production and sustainability practices. #CBGProduction #Bioenergy #SustainableTechnology #GreenPartnership #IndiaDenmark #CELLEBRIQ #startup77

Yesterday it was announced that Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC) would receive $6.6-million through the AgriScience Program - Clusters Component under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership. The Bioproducts Cluster will develop specialized technologies that turn renewable resources, such as agricultural residues, into useful bioenergy, biofuels, and biomaterials like ethanol and biodegradable plastics. Additionally, we have learned that as part of the cluster, a project in Alvinston will receive funding to work on novel or new soil amendments for growing various crops using residue materials. Bioindustrial Innovation Canada has been a critical stakeholder in the development of the Sarnia-Lambton Hybrid Chemistry Cluster, and investments like this from the Federal Government will go a long way in supporting continued development of clean, green, and sustainable chemistry innovations and technologies not just in Sarnia-Lambton, but across Canada. https://lnkd.in/dbgWT_M6 #innovation #SarniaLambton #bioindustrial #Bioproducts #sustainable #chemistry #biofuels #bioenergy #BIC #hybridchemistry #Lambton #research

Cleantech and Biotech innovation comes in all shapes and sizes, and in lots of interesting use cases.... Two companies in particular are showcasing algae's remarkable potential. 🦠 Firglas is scaling up the production of microalgae to create high-quality, sustainable biomass in production scale volumes. A UK origin company with facilities based in Spain, enabling them to gorge on all that mediterannean sunlight, while co-located with access seawater and desalination facilities. Nannochloropsis products, as either wet paste or dry powder, suit applications in nutraceutical and cosmetics, alongside volume biomass feed for aquaculture hatcheries - a huge sector to manage sustainably and as efficiently as possible with increasing pressure on resources. Additionally active compounds like Omega-3 oils and beta-carotene provide high value extractions to the biotech sector. Meanwhile, Swedish Algae Factory is exploring the unique properties of diatom algae with their product, Algica. It can be used in skincare to moisturise, protect against pollution, and as SPF enhancement. It's also a valuable material in renewable energy, as it helps improve solar panel efficiency by at least 4% in Si-solar and in Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) by up to 36%, leading to significant gains in energy capture - innovation, testing and validation continues in that area. This just goes to show that although algae may be microscopic, its potential to drive sustainable solutions and impact across various industries is immense. #biotech #Cleantech #AlgaeTechnology

⚠️ Including fertilizers and pesticides when cultivating medicinal plants can generate adverse effects in the herbal products and extracts manufactured, and later used by consumers. 🗑️ Furthermore, growing medicinal plants produces high amounts of plant biomass waste. Led by Bianka Siewert and Simone Moser from Universität Innsbruck, in collaboration with Anzhela Galstyan of University of Duisburg-Essen, Lukáš Spíchal of Palacký University in Olomouc, Sheridan Lois Woo of Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II and Veronika Huntošová of Univerzita 'Pavla Jozefa Šafárika' v Košiciach, Project VALOR-LIGHT tackles the above challenges by offering organic, self-sustaining agricultural methods that enhance product quality and prioritise safety by design. Through this project, they aim to: ☀️ Explore the implementation of decentralized modular water treatment systems powered by solar energy 🌿 Assess the feasibility of using predominantly biobased nanomaterials like plant fibers, agricultural waste, algae, etc. ⚙️ Leverage state-of-the-art, sustainable manufacturing techniques to create such systems. Project VALOR-LIGHT is one of the seven projects selected to receive funding in Aurora's first Call for Incentive and Collaborative Research Projects launched in February 2024. This annual call is undertaken within the framework of the Aurora 2030 programme. It aims to offer opportunities for young and established academics to further enhance research cooperation within Aurora universities.
