🎨✨ We're gearing up for an inspiring fall semester, and we're excited to open registration this Friday, August 30! As we continue our mission to provide high-quality, accessible arts education to DC's youth, we're offering a range of enriching programs, from Early Childhood Arts to Arts AfterSchool, Instrumental Music Academy, and our S.E.A.L.: Sitar Emerging Arts Leaders program. This fall, we're introducing an exciting Graphic Novel Design class for 4th-7th graders — where young artists will bring stories to life through drawing, character design, and storyboarding. Whether you're a community leader, supporter, or advocate for the arts, your involvement helps us nurture the next generation of creative thinkers and innovators. Together, we can empower young minds and ensure that every child has access to the transformative power of the arts. Know someone who would love to register their children, volunteer, or donate to Sitar? Share www.sitarartscenter.org with them and help us grow our creative community of learning and belong! #SitarArtsCenter #ArtsEducation #YouthEmpowerment #SupportTheArts #CommunityImpact

Consider this a mini-grassroots ASU+GSV AIR Show & ASU+GSV Summit #philanthropic experiment: Learned about The David's Harp Foundation, Inc. founded by Brandon Steppe in #sandiego this AM through one of their partners - Harbor City Church. In the coming days, we're going to hear a lot about things like #upskilling and the #futureofwork, while encountering a lot of homelessness. David's Harp is providing at-risk youth with amazing opportunities to develop entrepreneurial, creative, and leadership skills within San Diego's $2.4 billion Creative Economy. One very tangible need right now is to raise $15K for one of their newer youth homeless shelters that is need of renovations to their bathrooms and laundry rooms so they can shelter more young people. So the ask is to: 1. Donate $50: https://lnkd.in/eQk6iDK9 and put "#asugsvsummit shelter bathroom and laundry room reno" in the Comments of the donation page. And either comment or DM me and lets see what we can drum up! 2. Repost please and spread the word! I think it would be amazing to see the positive local impact that we - as attendees of a global #edtech event - can have on the host city. Learn more about their programs here: https://lnkd.in/e8uFZ5SK Let's see what happens - will this result in crickets 🦗? Or will we deliver some much needed 💰 for local housing, education & workforce development. #asugsvsummit #workforcedevelopment #atriskyouth #homelessness #education

Performing Arts education industry that I have been a part of more then a decade needs a lot of support and advocacy. The performing arts industry is a vital part of society, offering cultural enrichment, entertainment, and educational opportunities. Ensuring its growth and sustainability requires a combination of financial support, community engagement, and passionate advocacy. Here are a few key aspects to consider: 1. **Charity and Funding**: Philanthropic contributions, grants, and sponsorships from both private and public sectors are essential. These funds can help support artists, maintain venues, and produce new works. 2. **Community Support**: Local communities play a crucial role by attending performances, participating in arts education programs, and advocating for the arts in schools and public spaces. 3. **Passion and Advocacy**: Artists, audiences, and supporters need to passionately advocate for the arts, emphasizing their importance in education, mental health, and community cohesion. 4. **Accessibility and Inclusion**: Ensuring that the arts are accessible to diverse audiences and inclusive of different voices and perspectives helps to enrich the cultural landscape and ensure broader support. 5. **Education and Outreach**: Arts education programs in schools and community centers can foster a love for the arts in young people, creating the next generation of artists and arts supporters. By combining these efforts, the performing arts can continue to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the character and vibrancy of society.
